Says the chap that says jockeys dont matter, isnt that right nonaynever.
Simon Munir is a lucky man he has retained Daryl, there would be so many want him.

Report mincer11 November 21, 2015 2:04 PM GMT
Daryl will always need the best horse to win, and will never win on one that isnt.
Thats the difference between the top jocks and the journeymen.
Report ima_mazed66 November 21, 2015 2:25 PM GMT
The usual nonsense from mincer11 and I could have sworn neither horse jumped that well at the finish.

You also have a 4YO hurdler here off levels against a battle hardened top class 7YO hurdler sure to be aimed at the Champion Hurdle at the festival.

Didn't Nicholls say he thought the horse was unsuited to Cheltenham & the CH wouldn't be his target?
Report mincer11 November 29, 2015 2:56 PM GMT
Make sure you give up the inside you absolute imbecile.
How does Munir stand for him ?
Report Somerset Sam November 29, 2015 3:04 PM GMT
What did giving up the inside matter when it was in effect a match the whole way round?

Daryls only ride of the day says the commentator. Thats because no one else would have him!
Report jmdc November 29, 2015 3:15 PM GMT
Has to ride for the owners, surely.

Would Ruby Walsh give up the inside ?, and forget the nonsense about pocket talking. I had no bet in the race either way, i rarely back Jacob but i study him intently when hes riding, and he is an ordinary performer.

Rather than worrying about what Ruby would do (he gets beat on short priced favs as well remember), ask yourself this: did giving up the inside make any appreciable difference to the result?

Report mincer11 November 29, 2015 3:58 PM GMT
Ask yourself this, would a good jockey give up the inside ?, and you are right it more than likely didnt make any difference, but why do it.
Hes a nothing rider no matter what you say, and has a poor attitude also. Would Geraghty have congratulated him if Top Notch beat Peace And Co in the triumph, would a top rider start crying when a photo goes against them ?, and would any reasonable rider have not won on Masters Hill last year in a gimme race at Newbury ?

End of conversation for me. Perhaps the ground was better away from the rail? I dont know and to be honest dont care. He got beat on a short priced favourite. It happens. One things for sure, his ability is not as black and white as you make it out to be.

Would Simon Munir give him rides if he didnt have a modicum of ability? I thought his ride in the Fighting Fifth was very good indeed, given the terrible conditions and the fact he was on a 4 year old in the race.

possibly
Report mincer11 November 29, 2015 4:21 PM GMT
What was good about his ride in the Fighting fifth ?, he threw away the race the week before because of his inability to secure 2 good jumps when they were neeeded.
And what kind of rubbish is that,"given the fact that he was on a 4 year old and the terrible conditions", what in gods name has that got to do with his ride. Maybe the imbecile should have taken his time the way the winning rider did, he was getting a lovely lead and there was a good gallop, why did he go on about 5 out ?. Thats probably where he lost the race yesterday as Cooper left him off, he knew the other idiot was going too quick.

his fall off Port Melon summed him up, indecisive

Report mincer11 November 29, 2015 5:43 PM GMT
Arklearkle, happened to be in Newbury the day Masters Hill ran in that 4 horse conditions chase. It was well backed and yes i was on it that day.
All he had to do was ride it  prominently and it couldnt have lost, he proceeded to drop it out last , a thorough stayer and never made a move until half way up the straight, and by this time the rag in the race Tinker Time had got away from him and failed by a length to catch him.
Two races later Masters Hill beat Tinker Time by 44 lengths in Exeter on almost the same terms.
Now i wouldnt have minded him coming into the parade ring and saying he made a balls of it, but the dirty towrag came back and told the owners who were a bunch of well to do elderly people that he wanted to teach him how to race and that would be a great benefit going forward, and that they wouldnt have learned anything if he was ridden up with the pace.
These people didnt know the difference but Colin Tizzard was looking at him and you knew he was thinking, "fukk of ya big nosed prikk, you have just thrown away a 20k race".
He hasnt ridden the horse since either.

Think that Turniphead destroyed his confidence
Report mincer11 November 29, 2015 5:53 PM GMT
This had nothing to do with confidence, it was all about engaging his brain which he didnt.
When he rode in Ireland he wasnt any use, and although he may have improved since, he was light years away from being good enough to succeed Ruby Walsh.

My problem Mincer is that while he may not be the best jockey riding he is considerably better than hundreds of others so why do you pick on him. We have all backed horses which we believed lost because of bad rides but we dont come on criticizing them every chance we get - if we did the forum would explode from the increase in traffic. And besides if we never again backed a jockey because we believed he gave something a bad ride we'd soon run out of horses to back. Do you not think its time to move on.
Report mincer11 November 29, 2015 10:01 PM GMT
Yes you are correct Arklearkle, there are 100's of riders considerably worse than him, but the one thing that really gets on my goat is people who think they are the tops but who are nowhere near as good as they think they are.
I will guarantee you that Jacob is adamant that he is a top rider, exactly the same as people like Paddy Brennan and Graham Lee. You just know that every time they are interviewed, thats the impression they give. Exactly the same way Jim Culloty thinks hes a good racehorse trainer. I am not a fan of people who are not aware of their limitations.
Report Somerset Sam November 29, 2015 11:25 PM GMT
Clearly not aware of your own limitations in judging, without prejudice, rides given to racehorses.

If you thought the ride yesterday on Top Notch, a relatively inexperienced 2nd season hurdler on ground softer than ideal and over a trip that will turn out to be sharp enough for him against seasoned Grade 2 hurdlers, was poor, then I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

Its hard not to think that you've got a spare room with a wall full of Daryl Jacob newspaper clippings and a voodoo doll bedecked in the Munir colours. #stalkeralert
