I know that the top three in the betting Silviniaco Conti, Cue Card and Dynaste (plus Menorah) would have gone for the Betfair Chase anyway, as they did last year without the bonus, but without that bonus incentive they may not have attracted 10/1 shot Ballynagour or 20/1 shots Holywell and OFaolains Boy. And then where would the race be? Good work team.
Pity they didn't have the foresight to up it to £2m, they could have added Le Reve and Sausalito Sunrise to the glowing cast. Maybe next year.
