Here's the top 200 for US + Canada, flat only, Russell Baze currently on 12,699

I'm not sure you'll find anything at all comparable covering the GB, or GB + IRE, or GB + EUR, or GB + rest of the world, or The World.

But you can find figures for individual jockeys if you go digging, like Archer, Richards, Piggott.

You could perhaps this site to get a start..

https://sites.google.com/site/jockeypedia/home/birthdays

It has, for instance, the full list of jockeys who rode winners in the 1869 season, including F Archer on 1, though i think that was a win on a pony at Bangor in a steeplechase, so yhou may not want to count it in his total. Some do, some don't.
Report ima_mazed66 November 17, 2015 3:06 PM GMT
I think the suggestion The Headmaster is that your list is of the Champion Jockey each year and the number of winners they rode that season, which will be the most for that season of course but no most career wins, as in a list headed Gordon Richards, Lester Piggott, Pat Eddery and so on.
Report blackbarn November 17, 2015 3:37 PM GMT
ime - the list would surely be headed Baze Pincay and Shoemaker etcWink

I hope I am wrong but this has all the makings of one of those imprecise questions, where folks go to lots of effort to help and the OP is never heard from again.  As I say I hope I am wrong and look forward to getting Jackkat's reply and clarification.
Report The Headmaster November 17, 2015 4:23 PM GMT
Yes thanks ima-mazed.  Aware my pointless list of British Flat Champion Jockeys does very little to help the OP in its quest to determine the winningmost jockey of all time.  Nat Flatman doesn't get the credit he deserves though, does he?
Report ima_mazed66 November 17, 2015 4:29 PM GMT
True blackbarn but ged already posted up a link for the North American ones and added he wasn't sure where to find a list for the rest and The Headmaster did the list for GB Champion Jockeys and their seasonal totals, so since Richards, Piggott and Eddery appeared on there, I was just using their names from that to show the difference of what the OP might have maybe wanted instead.

I wasn't being an insular Little Englander or anyway. Happy
Report ged November 17, 2015 4:37 PM GMT
Frank Buckle isn't likely to appear any lists either, despite riding 27 classic winners, as the last of those was in 1827, before the first recognised 'champion jockey'. That total of 27 classics was pretty good going, especially considering he'd been riding for 20 years before the Guineas were first run.
Report blackbarn November 17, 2015 4:45 PM GMT
A great portrait of the "pocket hercules".  Does he remind you of another jockey from more recent times?
Report ged November 17, 2015 4:47 PM GMT
Buckle rode for 48 years, his last ride coming at age 63. I doubt that there is an authorised figure for the total number of winners that he rode.

Ged, he rode BOTH guineas winners in 1827 at the age of 61.  He must have been cross when Piggott broke his Classics record as he was a top jockey for 20 years before the Guineas even started.

Thanks all for your responses I would of posted earlier but just in from work
We do have internet at work but no betfair although you can get e bay and facebook good old BAE Systems
The reason for my original post was after watching the Pat E documentary on at the races
I was interested in PE's numbers compared to other great jocks number of wins strike rate etc etc
I then spent the next 90 mins looking on the internet for such figures but to no avail
I though it a bit strange as other sports eg cricket you can list most interesting stats most wickets most runs etc etc
I first started with an interest in racing in the early 80's and can remember exactly the location on the Warton site that I listened to Secreto's derby a few of us crowded round a radio with a non interest racing guy looking out for bosses happy days
Once again thanks for all the info

Report blackbarn November 17, 2015 9:42 PM GMT
jackkat - glad you came back.  You are probably going to struggle with strike rate but overall winners should be pretty easy. The problem is always location of those winners.  For British winners Pat is second only to Gordon Richards (I think) but not sure if Lester catches up if you include worldwide.  What is your criteria?

I was expecting it to be very easy to get the info via the wonder of the internet
As I said before if you look at a website like cricket info you more or less can get any info you want just strange we don't have a equivalent for Racing
From a personal point of view from what I have read Piggott was top boy obv we don't have as much replays of his rides apart from the real top races
I think GR has to be top 5 just on numbers alone for me the 80's with jocks like PE SC WS WC that was a vintage time
The jocks of today Moore is top boy but it was interesting PE's high opinion of Frankie on the ATR documentary
Just from a ££ point of view a jockey like Willie Ryan did me loads of good on the horses of the king Mr Henry Cecil
I suppose its all about personal views these are mine

Report blackbarn November 17, 2015 10:05 PM GMT
LaughLaugh - Correct but the key factor was really his strike rate that season (and others) - His 269 winners were achieved from only 835 rides. He could afford to be selectiveCool.  Apparently he (and Doug Smith) had permanent bookings on many of the night trains north just in case.
Report ima_mazed66 November 18, 2015 1:39 AM GMT
Not knocking Gordon Richards's numbers but I'm guessing he rode in many races pre-starting stalls and I'd imagine the starts of some of those could be interesting by today's standards.
