......E.W. Bet  Knockanrawley 13.50 Cheltenham 16 -1 ladbrokes

Today's 13.50 at Cheltenham looks a fairly warm staying handicap, with more than a few within this particular race probably having Grand National aspirations at the end of the season. The one I'm prepared to take a chance with in today's line up is Kim Bailey's Knockanrawley, who may prove to be a potent force within the chasing staying ranks this particular season.

From a very early stage in his career you could have guessed he may have been a stayer in waiting, having started  life off by winning a 21f hurdle at Towcester (possibly not expected given his stable mate who he beat was 10-11 that day), the assumption given his connections would be a 3 1/2 mile + horse as a chaser, which has obviously come to fruition. As a novice in both spheres of his extremely lightly raced career to date he has contested in staying trips on some extremely demanding courses, culminating in a very respectable  4th in the Eider Chase at Newcastle(33F), that race being only his 10th career start, and only his 5th over the bigger obstacles.

3 of the last 4 renewals of today's contest have gone to a 7yrold, with 3 of the last 4 winners also carrying 10-10 or less, with Knockanrawley fitting in both of those particular stats. The yard are in tremendous form presently, and there haven't been many day's in November when Kim Bailey has not sent out a winner, with David Bass the man that has been on board the vast majority of those. Knockanrawley has a reasonable record when fresh, and with the yard being fairly forward at this time of the year I doubt fitness will be an issue. Despite the competitiveness of the race I really think he is more than capable of a decent run given the bigger picture, and it wouldn't be the biggest surprise to see Kim Bailey have a very, very good day with his 4 runners at Cheltenham ridden by David Bass, with some very big prices among them. ( I'm probably going to do a small E.W. L15).

I had been personally waiting for BF sports book to revert to 20-1 (overnight price), but they only went back to 14's, possibly because of when the overnight market went live. Ladbrokes reverted back to 16-1 at 9am, so was satisfied to have some on E.W. with them at the price, 14-1 still fair enough value Imo.

Cheltenham     13.50     Knockanrawley           Knockanrawley is in good order, has won fresh in the past and should go well here today. It's an ultra competitive race, but he will appreciate any rain that falls and will have a good place chance.

Decent run for me money, he will go into the tracker. Softer ground would have helped, but did just look like he needed it as he wandered coming over the last, and run-in.
