The exchange used to be peer to peer and you could have a bet on any market you wanted. Now? Just full of £4 bots. As for the forum it used to be full of sharp minds and now total d1ckheads left.

Among the older originals on here I would be interested to know whether your activity on here has remained unchanged over the years , or has it stayed almost the same ?

I know when I started out on here I was attracted by the superior odds available compared with the bookies , but after a while I realised that the opportunities lay not in punting , but elsewhere , so I changed tack and essentially became a ( selective) layer .

Turnover for me is a fraction of what it used to be , but still trying .

I think in the 13 years I have been on Betfair to tell you the truth I don't think there is a lot in it.

I laid off some big football bets I have had over the years which would show my account in the red.

Never bet on betfair now as I like getting the best odds which the bookies offer so have a lot of accounts and try to spread it around.

I think from what the old people on here are saying is that they don't bet nearly as much as they did as the value seems to be gone.

I think almost everybody on the forum would have been in tears from laughing at some time or other reading some of the posts.

Really interesting to see what others have found about betfair over the years thanks for posting guys.

flutter that was it, oh the old days remember backing a dandy Nichols one 33/1 350/1 on here, the overnight markets were amazing and laying was far easier.

Some great posters come and gone have laughed so much many years ago it was compulsive it was that good, I think we all know those that ruined it but trolls and some fruitcakes seem to be the cause of the problems on here but befair allowed it to happen instead of clamping down.

Yes used to give out some great prizes, remember two VIP days at cheltenham, awesome days as much food and drink as you wanted can't remember the train rides home!! They used to look after their customers but sadly they forget how to do that

I'm still here haning on since Oct02.  Betfair has ruined my betting experiencing TBH.  I used to get up read the RP drive to the bookies to get best price and then sit down in front of the TV to watch uninterrupted.  Now I have one eye on the TV and one eye on here trying to exploit betting opportunities even the market liquidity and quick wins are a distance memory.

Don't get wrong betting is far more profitable for me nowadays online versus high street bookie prices, I just need to retrain myself if sit down and forget about the betting when the race is on.

2001 for me; a lot has changed betting wise over that time; can't keep an account with anyone if you've half a clue these days, arber or not. Even shops reluctant to take sports and horse bets of any substance unless they can immediately lay them off on here for a profit (in which case why would you want to have the bet in the shop!. Thank god for betfair, even with its heavy commission rates, as at least you don't get closed and it generally has great liquidity.I used to make good profits on betting but probably struggle to break even nowadays.

Seen a lot of changes in 14 years - accounts closed for losing money with the high street bookies because of irregular betting patterns - Pricew@@e value bets etc.

The only real winners are the high rollers who can bank roll themselves out of a poor run - the rest are kidding yourselves as 999/1000 myself included don't have the discipline to win small amounts regularly.

Utilise betfair for what it is - a vehicle for entertainment and if you stick to your "Price for Fun" limits £20, £50 £100 per week whatever suits your pocket then its excellent.

Looks like most people say that Betfair and gambling in general has gone down hill.

I for one never go racing and have not placed a bet on Betfair for over a year.

Have no trouble getting my few shillings on with the bookies at best odds so I am happy.

I try to spread my bets around with the bookies I am still getting the best odds and no accounts have been closed.

Funnily enough was in a Church a couple of weeks ago on a walk and bought a jar of lemon marmalade for £1 and it is the best thing that I ever tasted..

Why Did the the forum lose so much interest? I remember there used to be so many fantastic horse racing debates but then posts reduced dramatically a few years back. I seem to remember the system changing and folk just stopped posting, can anyone enlighten me.

Another long time betfair expert signing in. Expert in talking rubbish on forums.

I started off full of hope, thoughts of upgrading my three wheeled lada, maybe leaving my burger flipping job and impressing women with my fat wallet......

Still got the shitt car, shitt job, lost a bit of hair and my wallet is thinner than the supermodel girlfriend I never had. However, I've finally accepted I just don't have what it takes to be a good gambler, so gave it up. What has gone, has gone, you can still have fun without gambling despite what those disgusting adverts on tv tell you.

Here since april 2002 as well. 13 and a half years can't believe it's that long.
