It's interesting to note that truly great jockeys, of which Pat was undoubtedly one, very rarely make truly great trainers. Harry Wragg is the only exception that I can think of.
Part of this must be down to quality of the raw material. It's a hugely competitive market to break into and you're fighting against so many established players to get potentially good horses sent to you. |
