Carlisle latest: One hour until the first

The ground remains heavy, soft in places and the Going Stick readings at 6.30am were 7.4 on the chase course and 6.3 on the hurdle track.

It's a nasty, blustery day here with the wind from the right and slightly against the horses as they run up the home straight.
We're expected plenty of rain during the afternoon while the wind should die down slightly, but will still be strong.
--------------

"Wind FROM the RIGHT[/b] and slightly AGAINST the horses as they run up the HOME STRAIGHT

He must be stood with his BACK to the Track, then - as the runners come up the Home Straight FROM the RIGHT.
----------

- and the grammar ...

"We're expected"
---------

We expect - or -
We ARE expectING

But - "We're expectED" - is, surely, the past tense, about something that is yet TO HAPPEN.

parispike will be apoplectic when he sees that. Happy

I can see from his spotlights that Ben Hutton puts the work in and is quite thorough, obviously just a concentration lapse there imo.
