I tend not to look at the 4 places market IR, so don't know what the liquidity is like, not very good would be my guess from what I have seen.

So I was surprised to see the chunk that went up to lay the Byrnes runner when it was still travelling fine round the inner.

I was expecting the horse to either stop or the jockey not to weigh in!

The horse did finish 4th and the jock appears to have weighed in, so fark knows what was going on!

There's no money in-running on the normal place market so why have they opened this market to IR? Truly bizarre. Yer man who rode the Byrnes horse obviously won't be Mr Popular tonight!

Must have been a jockey change - Miss AB O'Connor (7)

I hope the layer knew!

The horse was weak in the betting and was around 3s in that market at the off, but did actually traded relatively short in the IR win market.

Should anybody be, "surprised," at ANYTHING that happens with a, "Byrnes runner"?

They 'could' even have Laid it in the 3 Places Market - Told somebody else that it won't be in the Places' - and then backed it against said Layer in the 4 Places Market.

A bit convoluted, I know - But so is the barn.

- and remember the film 'The Sting' ....

"I said place it on Lucky Dan, PLACE it." Grin

My 'surprise' is that it did finish in the 4 despite a chunk being put up to lay at 5 IR, particularly given the stable it comes from!

And further 'surprise' that such an amount would be offered in the weak '4 places' market IR!
