GARY MOORE was in intensive care in hospital on Thursday night with damaged ribs and fluid on his lungs after being kicked several times by one of his horses at his stables.
The leading jumps and Flat trainer, who saddled Sire De Grugy to win the Queen Mother Champion Chase last year, was taken to Redhill Hospital after the incident at his yard near Horsham in West Sussex on Thursday morning and was kept in overnight for observation.
Moore's daughter Hayley said: "I have just spoken to Mum [Jayne] who is with him in Redhill Hospital and he is going to spend the night in the ICU [intensive care unit] as he has fluid on his lungs.
"He was kicked in the back more than once and has damaged a number of ribs."
The 59-year-old trainer was legging up wife Jayne on a horse when another horse who he had his back turned to lashed out.
Moore is the father of top Flat jockey Ryan and jumps riders Jamie and Josh.
