Nowt wrong with the ride at all. Lots of pocket talking going on. Just wasted 3 minutes watching the replay expecting some sort of highway robbery! Horse just didn't quicken at the crucial time, it's a plodder, couldn't possibly win so why punish it? Nothing wrong with the ride.

I'm not talking about any drift. Cooper just seemed to accept defeat too easily for my liking. Concur the horse might be a bit of a rogue though. Although as ever, that doesn't mean a jockey is allowed to not try his best.
For what it is worth. Those horses deemed un genuine are the best ones for the insiders to lay as they have their excuse already lined up. Without naming names, one of the biggest cases where insiders got caught and charged with laying a horse they knew wasn't trying was on a so called 'rogue'
Not saying that was the case here just stating that the un genuine post race stuff is a red herring

I am firmly in the camp of the non trier brigade. Cooper was just not that interested. The horse had plenty in the tank, and if a top jock doesn't know what he should be doing four out, then he should pack it in. He simply LET the others go away. That horse would have gone very close to winning had it been ridden by someone who was firstly, AWAKE, and secondly by someone who WANTED TO WIN!

I think Delegate has got a questionable attitude and is unlikely to live up to his tall reputation of a year ago but I would agree with the original poster that the market moves leading up to the race and Bryan Cooper's passive ride of Delegate give the distinct impression that the eventual race outcome was never in doubt from the moment JP and BG discussed how the race was likely to pan out.
The big owners and trainers wield huge influence in Irish racing and are rarely called to account when something smells fishy.

The horse fell last time out. Number 1 priority was to get his confidence back. Ran free early so nothing to gain from murdering him from the last. Nothing whatsoever wrong with the ride.

Well the JP runner had bumper form as good as, if not better, than delegate so, as long as he was schooling well then why wouldnt he be punted if his price was too big? On the reverse side delegate was way too short this morning after the heavy fall last time. Nothing unusual about the betting patterns at all
