not sure sparrow, i also thought Gold not silver got an "over confident" ride, looked laid out for this, must be a bit galling when the jockey lets you down
Report sparrow November 3, 2015 5:51 PM GMT
Unfortunately I only backed Nice Story to be placed. Plain
Report onlooker November 3, 2015 5:52 PM GMT
THat HAS to be a mistake by the BHA, or Wetherbys.

According to RACING Post - it has only ever run ONCE on the All-Weather -
- So would NOT qualify for an ALL-WEATHER RATING -
- and HAVE to run off it's TURF Rating, until it had sufficient, different, ALL-WEATHER Form

I was hoping you would reply, onlooker. I couldn't believe my eyes and travelling over from Germany too. Haven't we seen a similar thing before with French horses at a low level?
Report adamski November 3, 2015 5:56 PM GMT
Why wasn't it odds on?
Report onlooker November 3, 2015 5:57 PM GMT
Yes - But, usually, over Hurdles and Fences ... and with MORE than just ONE run in France - unless a Winner in France, that is.
Report keithmac November 3, 2015 5:57 PM GMT
The horse ran in Guernsey in May 2015 beating the 57 rated Cabuchon by 4 lengths in receipt of 15lb
Report sparrow November 3, 2015 6:00 PM GMT
That must be the reason, keithmac. But has been very leniently treated overall.
Report Salut-Flo November 3, 2015 6:00 PM GMT
I'm 99.99% sure that turf mark has just been left there from her days in the UK. 2 starts ago she beat Fayana by a short head receiving 2lb and Winley by 1 1/4 lengths receiving 6lb. Fayana has a UK equivalent of 47 in France while Winley was beaten a distance in a moderate claimer at Strasbourg. 50 looked around right on what she's been doing of late.

A cracking post on the puntersmate forum earlier from Nick

Couldn't help being struck by a strange-looking entry in the juicy 0-50 {8 handicap at Wolverhampton (5.40) by German trainer Rudolf Storp. The said donkey is Nice Story who was trained by Mick Channon just over 2 years ago reaching a mark of 78. Today races off 50.

Last time Nice Story was last of 4 in a handicap at Baden Baden but only beaten 2.7 lengths by a Bin Suroor Godolphin inmate, Stay Strong, who has a BHA rating of 68. Nice Story has actually won 4 of her last 6 races, 3 of those in Germany. Interestingly the first of those races was when Storp decided to make the trip to Guernsey last May for a small handicap worth £1800 to the winner. The odds on fav that day was David Evans' Cabuchon, yet Nice Story turned over that fav by 4 lengths at odds of 7/2. Cabuchon has just won on Lingfield's polytrack!

Nice Story has only ever run once on an artificial surface despite being by the American dirt sire Suave, who excelled at 10f -12f. I can't imagine Rudolf Storp bringing the horse over for such a lowly contest without very serious intent. He has booked the unsubtle Jimmy Quinn who will certainly not be over-complicating things.

In such a bad race I reckon it's worth chancing Nice Story each way at 12/1 (Ladbrokes, Fred, totesport).

Excellent Happy

---NOT a mistake....as has been alleged by some - on this thread ABOVE

Horse ran to marks of 49 on 5th May 2014 and 43 on 4th May this year.

So 50 seemed reasonable.  I assume those above who thought it all a terrible mistake are now retiring...with their >>> WINNINGS

...and very big congratulations to those who were wise before the event, of course Happy
Report sparrow November 3, 2015 6:22 PM GMT
It was simply a question about the handicap mark and nothing else.
Report Salut-Flo November 3, 2015 6:23 PM GMT
A good selection from Nick although the part about the horse's last run has quite a few errors in it.
Report Stevie Gerrard November 3, 2015 6:24 PM GMT
The horse has run against Cabuchon twice in Guernsey and beat him this year by 4l getting 15lb. Cabuchon is around a 50 rated horse.
The reason his turf mark is 77 on the RP site is because the rating doesn't change until he is entered for a turf race.
Report onlooker November 3, 2015 6:27 PM GMT
Retiring to GUERNSEY, no doubt -
- Where those two, 5-runner,  perceived, performances took place -
- the latter ending up a 3-finisher affair, as two runners unseated their riders - with the 3rd home being 15 lengths adrift.

Form to be dogmatic about.
Report Stevie Gerrard November 3, 2015 6:37 PM GMT
As for that german run the winner Stay Strong was rated 66 and giving 4lb plus 7lb wfa to take into account, not sure how far he was beat but 50 wouldn't be far off and I'm sure the handicappers have more evidence to go on than what i'm seeing in the RP.

If that's what you think mate, then you are perfectly entitled to that opinion.

I obviously have to disagree.
We have some cracking punters on puntersmate, and they don't get shouted down or slagged like some of the very good posters on here. It's just a pity you didn't hang around and give us the benefit of your experience. Confused

i never said there weren't cracking punters on there, lets be honest anywhere would be better than here so i certainly never said anyone gets shouted down either. all the posts arent great though imo and it has its fair share of poor ones. nowt wrong with that either. you stuck across a relevant post today, which was a good one but not completely correct, still a very decent post though. im pretty sure there would have been many today that werent good or correct. only my opinion pretty astounded that it upset you two so much to be honest

Divi bird/ fat fraud/ forum grass/ it is a wonder you can walk the amount of times you shoot yourself in the foot,
Weren't you the guy who last year was boasting that you had a new bet365 account and I called you a mug punter if you could get on with them.
You stated this year that you only had one account left  W H.
When someone picked up on another of your lies you said that you paid a labourer £200 to open an account for you.
It seems you weren't clever enough to keep your own bet365 account.
