Nicholls won't lose face by dumping Sam. But I agree Scholfield is better option. The second might be a hound people seemed to wanna lay it.

STD is suited to his old man's horses not the types Nicholls has.

His show-jumping background a big asset when presenting horses (esp. novices) at fences, a skill which is not STD's strong point. Hope he gets a bigger share of the Ditcheat rides this season.

He is equally good making the running imo. Now that the going is getting softer he seems to be riding conservatively early and overtaking the exhausted ones that have gone too fast. The key though is getting the horses jumping economically and staying on the inside.
