BUT - Then they move the RAILS OUT, on the bends - and, or re-site the Hurdles on the Outside - ADDING Yards to the Overall race distance - and often taking it back to 2 miles .... or more.
Pointless, pedantic, exercise - measuring, or trying to measure, Jump races to the 'precise' yard.

I always thought it was "about 2 miles" which 1m 7f 195y is who cares what the precise yardage is for jumping...its so pointless when you get exaggerated rail movements, obstacles re-sited etc
