Very little. He redeemed himself after defeat in the International by winning at Leopardstown and Longchamp and convenient reasons can be given for his runner-up position yesterday (ground, travel, long season etc.). Breeders these days aren't interested in middle-distance horses and with the exception of Galileo, market forces in the sales ring dictate that buyers are more interested in the speedier, less distance-laden pedigrees.

There's a similarity, in fact, between Golden Horn and Nijiinsky (lost his last two races) but was syndicated in 1970 for just under $5.5 million dollars.

When G.Horn Won The 12F Epsom Derby only 3 horses behind him have come out to Win, 4 races between them All and one of them dropped back to 8F (Elm Park).
G.Horn Won the 5 runner Eclipse beating The Grey Gatsby-Never won a race in over 12 months.
G.Horn got upsides Arabian Queen in The Juddmonte, she eyeballed him, rallied and Beat him.

G.Horn Won The Arc and looked Fantastic, very few people recognised the Track bias in 6 races which; 2 Winners Made All, 2 Winners tracked the Leader then Strode on to Win, 2 Winners sat quite Prominent in 3rd or 4th, then Strode on to Win, Any other runner sitting off the pace, held up off the front 6, had No chance of Winning inc Treve, Found etc;

So its onto the Breeders Cup, G.Horn-"The Best Thing since Sliced Bread" However once again, he gets eyeballed by Found she only raced 14 days ago coming from last place to be 2nd in a GR1, she ran behind G.Horn in the Arc Btn 5L after being held up off the pace.
Both G.Horn and Found were having their 8th race of the Season.
For the people who think G.Horn would have given Frankel a race over 10F, Dream On, Frankel would have Blitzed him.

sid, with all due respect, a number of the shrewdies on here have stated categorically that golden horn is one of the best racehorses ever, and i for one am more inclined to believe empty headed thoughtless platitudes than objective in depth insightful analysis when determining what is real

Shame that we are not getting the pleasure of seeing him run for another year. Even millionaire owners prefer the quick return to the risk of possible diminished returns.

My conclusion on Golden Horn, a good middle distance colt in a bad year.
