The forum seems to be split on how the above thread was conducted.

Any forumite who criticized in any shape or form was castigated by several others who were of the mind that the criticizing poster was being negative and responsible for Penny deciding not to post any more.

Why does anyone put selections up on here along with stakes ?

Are they genuinely saying - 'Look at me, I'm successful, watch me win a lot of money over time'?
Surely that would be egotism getting in the way of common sense.

If forumites are going to do this, then the thread would have to be completely accurate imo. No mistakes whatsoever, or at least mistakes rectified as soon as possible. Evidence of actual bets being struck would seem to me to be necessary too.

If the thread is not watertight in that respect, then criticism is bound to be forthcoming.

Note that I'm not talking about normal 'tips' threads - I'm talking about threads with an accounting basis to them and P/L figures being shown.

The problem arises because of the increase in stakes. If you observe knight commanders lay thread it has survived obviously because it is successful but also because of the simple format. 1 point lay simple. No mention of stakes non needed it is simply 1 point lay.
For a backing thread to survive on here it would take win bets at a point, place only bets at 1 point or one point each way. There should be no mention of stakes by posters and they should only post if they can handle the critics.
A backing thread would be good but it would only survive if the posters did not respond to the critics if they were showing a loss or were on a bad run.
And definitely no reasoning behind the selections.
