Inclement conditions that greeted work-watchers at Keeneland on Monday are forecast to continue for the next 48 hours, creating the possibility of a worrying time for connections of Breeders' Cup Turf favourite Golden Horn.

The turf course is currently described as good by track superintendent Javier Barajas, but his prediction is that conditions will definitely worsen before dry weather arrives on Thursday.

He said: "We've had drizzle through the early part of the morning and overnight, and the going would rank as the equivalent of good in England.
"However for the Americans it would be seen as softer.
"They are calling for all day rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, with it clearing up on Thursday.

"The course takes the rain very well because we have a sand base, but, that said, it could get quite soft for the Europeans ahead of the weekend.
"What's happened is that we've taken three-quarters of an inch of permanent drizzle since Sunday.
"It's hard to be sure, but it could be a killer 24 hours ahead."

Golden Horn is as short as 4-7 for the mile-and-a-half Turf and cleared quarantine on Monday morning.

The Derby, Eclipse, Irish Champion Stakes and Arc winner has, however, shown a marked preference for good ground.

They might run him, but don't expect Frankie to get too serious in the last race of his career.
