Had a strange issue yesterday. My Userid was locked because someone had several failed attempts to login and that wasn't me. So rang up Betfair to get it unlock then a very rude agent accused me of entering the wrong userid and I should try again, low and behold it worked. If I had entered a wrong userid it would not say locked, it would say something like invalid userid / password. Nothing more than this agent unlocked the userid and pretended as if he didn't. I feel somethings funny when on with the Betfair site yesterday but they're not saying. |

The bank text and phoned me saying that there is an unusual tractions on my account and wanted to know if that was me, I said no. So now my card has been blocked and I'm due a new card in 5 to 7 days.

That's some coincidence if it isn't related.
I had the same phone call from my bank a few years asking me if I'd made several donations to a charity in the past few days. Which I hadn't. I got the money back though. |

I made a five quid donation before the England rubgy match the other week.
Next day I phoned em back and said I changed me mind I no longer feel quite so generous  If bf had been hacked they wouldnt be able to keep that quiet for long, I know there are only about 20 of us customers left, but there would be enough data to know it were them. I suspect not btw |

Agreed, but it would be fairly easy to keep quiet for the first few days, especially if it happened on a weekend.

yesterdays issues were not hacked - it was the bet matcher that stopped working

Maybe not hacked but a minor breech which is better now to say and there no panic, who knows.
All I'm saying is watch your account for any funny transactions or a call / text from your bank. If you do then report it on this thread if Betfair don't delete it soon or ban me. |

Can't be wife or kids. The transaction took place at 14:35 today while we were watching the football and my card was firmly in my pocket.

Just coincidence imo, someone tried to spend £700 at House Of Fraser with one of my cards last month, a card that I'd never used online or in person, I hadn't even signed the fecker, it was in a drawer somewhere.

Too many of these banks have offshore agents and IT people and who knows what they get upto. I think all purchase should require a PIN, too many website just want the card number and expire date.

Normal to get an automated call from Bank security asking if you have just made a transaction
A few weeks back my wife's mobile was disconnected, the provider said she asked for it to be done, a couple of days later someone tried to buy electrical equipment in a Tandy store in Dallas using her card details the bank said its a scam involving the phone users credentials but wouldn't give any more details of how it works . The transaction was stopped and no money lost, but it happens every minute of every day somewhere in the World............... |

Sandysboy - NATWEST WILL text you with the amount and who the payment is being made to for confirmation, if you reply N, then they immediately block the card and then they ring me. That's how Natwest works, other bank might work differently.
If they don't get a reply from the text within a specify time then they will ring me. |

I can confirm that as I bank with an offshoot of the said company..
Betfair had an alleged "Denial Of Service" attack which has been going on since its inception on the "sportsbook"..  I will once again be shot down (!) but the internet is becoming too dangerous to do business on.. In the next few years online banking will become a thing of the past as will online gaming (which to many is true today).. Ladbrokes know as they increase their High Street Estate...  |

i regularly get emails from a"paypal" fake site.you see it.panic and use the facility on the fake site to sign in to check the transaction.when u sign in they now have your signing on details.. the giveaway is on the greeting at the start dear.x if they use "user" or similar its fake.if they use your real name its maybe real..
