Have only used it a couple of time myself Ghost, but they certainly got a chunk of my business today.

Can't remember ever seeing any money on there - good luck matching with nothing.

Every day I consider it more. But seeing the pitiful state of the 1.20 at Newbury delays that day more too.

It will soon be crashing with all you lot joining.  Grin
Report bilbobaggins October 24, 2015 1:53 PM BST
Bet it wasn't in-running Fruiterie. Easy to get a few quid matched with their pre-race bots but useless for everything else.
Report Stevie Gerrard October 24, 2015 1:55 PM BST
I've been on there for over a year since being put on 40% on here, you can normally get a decent amount matched a few minutes before the off which is good enough for me. Though not much use for those who do in-running at the moment. The problem is when bf goes down I struggle to get my bets matched on purple so when people see the liquidity on there  today then no one will switch over.

I've had a purple account since they started.

It's true the prices were always a notch or two behind this place but these days sometimes the reverse is the case.
Report Barton Bank October 24, 2015 3:03 PM BST
I have an account with **** to be used when betfair is down. It is absolutely useless. You can't get a decent bet on anything pre race even.
Will never be any use.
Report Dr Crippen October 24, 2015 3:03 PM BST
Personally I prefer Betfair, purely for their starting price which I usually find hard to beat.
Report Dr Crippen October 24, 2015 3:05 PM BST
£340,445 matched on that last race at Chelt. by the way.
Report Barton Bank October 24, 2015 3:18 PM BST
I just had a look at the previous race at Newbury on ****
About a minute before the off there were no less than 5 horses being offered at 3-1 or less best price on the back side.
And zero available at any price on plenty of horses on the lay side.
Maybe all the money is being bet by invisible robots on there, I don't know.
What I do know is you can't have a grand on a horse in a GROUP RACE without knocking the price in by a very big chunk. EG 6.6 into 4.5
It is like a ghost site over there and completely unusable to anyone who wants to bet in volume.

20 percent (or 40, 60, etc) of nothing is nothing.

Report pablo-fanque October 24, 2015 4:40 PM BST
if you are backing at the top end of the market you shouldn't have a problem , if you are prepared to take one tick  lower or same as here .

there is a bot that takes the bet their if it is 1/2 ticks lower and places the bet on betfair as to how much liquidity there is on the selection on here
Report pablo-fanque October 24, 2015 4:40 PM BST
pre-race BB , not in-running
Report Brian October 24, 2015 4:41 PM BST
There is less liquidity on purple when Betfair is down because Bots can't operate. That said there were a few good prices but too small stakes. More pleasurable then current Betfair experience if you are only a small punter.
Report Barton Bank October 24, 2015 4:42 PM BST
Depends how much you want on, pablo.
It is no use to me.
And yes, I am referring to pre race.
Report Stevie Gerrard October 24, 2015 4:42 PM BST
pablo is correct, as long as there is plenty of money in the bf market you can get plenty on purple at the same time at a similar price, earlier in the day you could actually get a tick bigger on Blue De Vega at Leopardstown for good money.
Report pablo-fanque October 24, 2015 4:45 PM BST
BB , you have tried taking 1/2 ticks lower and still can't get matched ?
Report Barton Bank October 24, 2015 4:49 PM BST
I get matched for a few hundered and the price contracts and stays contracted.
Had 2k on one earlier and shotened it up from 6.8 to 4.5
In a GROUP RACE just before the off.
Impossible to punt on there regularly with markets like that, just pathetic.
Report pablo-fanque October 24, 2015 4:51 PM BST
and it didn't shorten up from 6.8 to 4.5 on here ?
Report Barton Bank October 24, 2015 4:53 PM BST
Here was down.
And its all very well saying that you can get a bet on when Betfair is working but that would be like having an electricity generator that can only work by being plugged into the mains.
Report pablo-fanque October 24, 2015 5:01 PM BST
so you pay PC and bet here pre race BB ?
Report Dr Crippen October 24, 2015 5:01 PM BST
Like I said:

£340,445 matched on that last race at Chelt. by the way.

That was in the 2:45 Cheltenham.

Report ged October 24, 2015 5:04 PM BST
Dr C - you do know how purple calculates its 'matched' figures don't you?

In case you don't - if you have £10 at 20/1, purple counts that as £210 matched. Betfair counts it as £20 matched.
Report Dr Crippen October 24, 2015 5:05 PM BST
Just watching the 17:20 at Newbury.

Over £5,000 matched while I'm typing this.

£28,000 so far on the race.

Dr C - past research, from looking at illiquid markets and big-priced entries. It's been discussed on here many times in the past.
Report Dr Crippen October 24, 2015 5:15 PM BST

Report Barton Bank October 24, 2015 5:24 PM BST
Ged, that explains a lot.
Like why the liqudity over there is so obviously pathetic despite the amounts matched looking respectable on paper.
I can only go by my experience of the site, which is that it is rubbish.

If you bet close to the off you can get the same price as on here for a decent amount from my experience (if this place is up). If you want an early price on there you have no chance - but that is the same here.

Barton Bank - now this place is up and running why not try some today pre race on there? If you pay pc on here surely it is a no brainer, if you wanted a grand at 6.6 on there and it was the same price on here, and you put it in at 6.2 it would get matched imo. If you pay pc that is a better option than being robbed blindly by the greed of BF isn't it?

How will liquidity improve if everyone says there is no liquidity, but then won't move to help the liquidity??

Why will BF ever listen to its customers when they all stay after having yet another shocking experience on here? I lost plenty enough for me yesterday trying to trade out of bets elsewhere, having bets matched that didn't show up, having bets unmatched but wasn't sure if they were on or not as nothing was stable.

This place is ran by pure greed and greed only, and when have they ever done anything for their customers who pay for everything bar a pathetic apology for any of their complete c0ck ups? They won't be getting another deposit from me, and has to be one of the worst companies I have come across when it comes to service and and how they treat customers.

Report liberator of the oppressed October 25, 2015 12:36 PM GMT
I had look this morning and tons tons better than when last had a peep. Will give it a try Ghostie like you. This site is just the pants and treat punters with total contempt. Everything everywhere was suspended yesterday en block all Championship matches at one point. This lot simply do not care about joe public.
Report Magic__Daps October 25, 2015 12:41 PM GMT
Dickie - it should never have been switched back on or left open if it wasn't 100% safe and operational. I obviously am not the only one going by comments of bets showing or not, but any complaints just get ignored or fobbed off. When this place first started they would have compensated with something at least, (it is my own doing for staying on here yesterday). But is their sheer arrogance and attitude towards paying customers that gets to me. Vile firm ran by incompetent greedy clueless buffoons imo.

Their attitude comes from the top, so maybe he can come on here with an apology, telling us all how they value and listen to us, and how it won't happen again - you know the same old same old b0llocks they tell us. May as well just shut the exchange down and advertise as a fooking arcade with a sportsbook for complete mugs only unless you bet in pennies.
Report Barton Bank October 25, 2015 12:44 PM GMT
Have just had a look at purple for the biggest race of the day. The liqudity is rank compared with here.
Betfair has its faults but I am not going to go over there and take under the odds on every bet to provide some liqudity. Sorry.
Report Magic__Daps October 25, 2015 12:59 PM GMT
BB - all I am saying is pre race a few mins before the off is fine to get matched, and anyone who pays pc on here surely its a no brainer. Also just because the liquidity is not showing it doesn't mean you won't get matched by the bots

I would use **** if I could get a proper bet matched without crashing the price, but I can't so I don't.
And yes I agree above comment was an understatement. Though it remains to be seen how the purple site would cope with a massively increased number of customers as well.

And here was me starting to think you had some other motive for objecting so strongly to the purple.
Report pablo-fanque October 25, 2015 1:07 PM GMT
purple prices follow betfair prices. the price won't crash their if it hasn't here .

a bot will take your bet at one tick lower on purple and place it on betfair so long as the amount you want on is available on betfair , regardless of what is showing as liquidity on purple .
Report Dr Crippen October 25, 2015 1:10 PM GMT
Yet I'd got both exchanges open yesterday and while Betfair was generally better is wasn't better on every runner by any means.
Report pablo-fanque October 25, 2015 1:11 PM GMT

Report pablo-fanque October 25, 2015 1:20 PM GMT
that's right .

but how many races in a year would you have not been able to bet in with all the outages here . 200 out of 6000+ races ?

maybe more.

but if you pay PC and bet pre-race , it makes no difference , you take 1/2 ticks lower and let the arb bots take their cut , or pay 20%-60% on your winnings .
Report torabora October 25, 2015 1:30 PM GMT
If Bdq had a BSP equivalent, and the layers that BF have, alot more would go over. Bdq however categorically not interested in operating their own "SP". Could it be that they are owned by a big bookie and would not want to move business away from the big bookie Sportsbook??

And how do you then bet on here?? Maybe if you did try a few bets on there you may change your mind slightly (but it seems you are just one of many who won't try and change even though it has improved), there maybe some big layers out there who won't go across because there are no big backers. It makes no sense to moan about liquidity but do nothing to try and improve the situation imo.

I am not trying to cause arguments but I honestly think it is worth a try from your end, you may be surprised.
