So what? So long as he keeps riding as well as he has recently, he will do for me. Why is it that the media keep trying to turn sportsmen and women into entertainers? 40 years ago they would not even have had to face a microphone through a long career. Gordon Richards, Doug Smith, Joe Mercer, Piggott, Eddery hardly ever had to put on a media face. Some of the jockeys enjoy it and are aiming for a media career but it should be their choice.

Are you talking about his personality or his riding ability? The former has no relevance to betting on the horses he rides unless you believe that he is cheating every ride which I certainly don't.
|
|
By:
The media love him and that is the be all and end all.
|
|
By:
He knows horse racing is entertainment and people like to know a bit about the horses and people.
It is a lot better than some trainers Question: What is the plan for the horse? Answer: That was the plan. Question: Will he get further Answer: We'll wait and see. Question: Will he go on the ground Answer: We must be hopeful. |

100 % agree with the OP.
You only have to watch his performence on celebrity big brother , the veil slipped early on and he was booted out after starting the show as a warm fav. Also was there not drug issues. That aside he is having a cracking year in the saddle. |

A human being that doesn't spend all day being jovial and full of life, perhaps occassionally being moody and a bit unpleasant? No, sorry, I don't believe it and even if it was true, how dare they!

Saw him at Yarmouth one year on my daughters birthday......she asked him for an autograph......basically told to get lost. All other jockeys obliged as did the late great Henry Cecil.
Was it his true self or was he totally pi**ed off about something......either way he could have and should have been more polite |

By:
I remember at Yarmouth a school of about 30 kids waited outside the weighing room for him to give autographs. He just said no and carried on walking. Could understand if he was in a hurry but he clearly wasn't. I remember Hughie Morrison on C4 alluding to the fact he played up to the cameras.
