The original decision was a shocker. I don't believe it was unanimous though so just sack the ones who got it wrong.

The Doncaster stewards made a biased decision based purely on the sex of the horses in question . The prestige of a potential top stallion winner of race  blinkered them towards it I've no doubt

in his defense, the bloke that came out afterwards made it as clear as he could that the decision wasn't unanimous.  so they shouldn't all be sacked.

well, at least one of them didn't.  which shows you what you're dealing with when even they can't agree if it should be thrown out or not.  so much ambiguity what chance have the rest of us got.

The geezer in charge who came on the telly needs to do the honourable thing now. Something is telling me he doesn't quite have the support of those up above. What cheeses me and I suspect a lot more on here is the we got it right attitude. No you didn't. Made our racing look foolish at best and out of touch at worst. Questioning during the enquiry left a lot to be desired too don't you think. BUT nothing will happen. Come racing. Can you do that with confidence any more? I'm amazed that bright intelligent people can make such consistent mess and try to justify it.

i really don't think this is good for racing, we all know the quality of these stewards terrible .
but , they are gutless when it comes to pulling none jiggers , from now on they are gonna be scared sh---tleess of throwing a horse out when it causes  interference or not !
i think it was the correct decision, the fact is yes their was a bit of bumping earlier, but it was the aggressive way he forced his way out , clearly breaching the rules of racing !
yes it was ungentlemanly conduct hemming him in but that does not breach the racing rules ,
barging your way out does ! yes it was harsh ! but when you looked at the jockeys face on the winner ,sitting on the horse it almost turned white ,as you seen the look of shock after viewing how bad it was !  he new he was in big trouble ! this turn around will just make them have even less bottle !

WE should have a independent  panel of top guys at head quarters ,  to settle these matters  ... it will happen   but when  ..your guess is as good  as mine

Im not so sure if simply verse stayed were it was without barging out bondi beach would have got 1st run and would have won.Rules should be changed.

I thought it was the correct decision originally and still do. I don't think the argument of 'it was the best horse' is right to decide situations like this. Does this mean that a jockey can now break as many rules as he wants so long as he's on the best horse? Imagine if it was football for eg. Are Messi and Ronaldo allowed to go round kicking or worse anyone they want because they are the best players? Where will this end? Jockeys are already getting away with plenty knowing the result is highly unlikely to be changed. After this episode no steward will dare throw a horse out.

it could be put down to simple greed , as the pot was so big racing driver cut other drivers of etc !

When jockeys earn so little, temptation is not surprising

Flat jockeys earn £118.29 a ride and the jumps boys, facing a greater risk of injury, get £161.51. Fine for a top jockey with five or six rides on a card. Not so hot for the grafter driving up to Musselburgh for a single ride on a no-hoper. Nobody pays his petrol expenses and he may well have driven 50 miles in another direction at 5 a.m. to ‘ride work’, educating horses for a trainer who won’t pay him for doing so in the hope of a future ride or two. He pays 10 per cent of his fee to the agent who booked his ride, 10 per cent to the valet who looks after his kit, and insurance payments on top of that. Gallingly, if a trainer pulls his horse out of a race at the last minute there is in Britain (unlike Australia) no compensation for the jockey who has travelled to ride it

More likely wanting to keep a big job because if he had got beat....

I think people need to look again at the first incident,simple verse didnt barge his way out.
Bondi bumped simple verse & simple verse bumped him back,not to create a gap but just to hold his ground. However a gap appeared & atzeni went for it like every good jockey should. Thats totally different to deliberately manoevering your horse for a gap thats not there,that would be barging. imo correct decision made today.

As I have argued elsewhere -it is a nonsense to rule out a decision of dead heat in certain cases like this where there is great uncertainty about the possible 'correct/just' outcome.
Stewards apparently can say that after an interference a horse might have finished a tiny distance behind or in front of another horse but couldn't have finished level.
Two groups have carefully scrutinised this matter and disagreed . A dead heat verdict says the margin is extremely close, we can't be sure which way to call it so we offer a compromise verdict.
It's all arbitrary anyway. Why should the second verdict always be assumed to be the correct binding one ?

@Haslam correct!! Bondi was veering left all the way, at 2f out he again went into the filly and jumped right which opened a gap that Azteni took. Then at the 2nd incident again Bondi was veering left towards her, sacrificing STS chances in the process until the filly got near the rail and she responded to his attacks. If anyone should be punished is Bondi's jockey who left his mount veer so drastically over a prolonged distance and using his whip in the wrong hand during that time.

Stewarding and the application of the rules in this country is abysmal.

A few weeks ago at Southwell there was a ludicrous situation where Jamie Snowden had permission for one of his to go down to the start early, then was subsequently fined by the stewards for not parading the horse in front of the stands.

If only there were more important things for the BHA to worry about...

Having backed SV on here on the day and not laying it whilst the enquiry went on (why would I they never get thrown out). I am pleased for Beckett who is an excellent trainer and was bold for entering her at a late stage.

It seemed 50/50 on peoples opinion on here and other areas whether the decision to demote SV was right on the day.

The problem lies with the stewards on the day understanding the rules. Central stewarding needs to be tried out.
