I hardly use the site anymore

4,915 Exchange points  =  8% Commission Discount

Occasionally I dabble and sometimes get a decent win; and then Wednesday comes

2015-09-09  Premium Charge for week commencing 31 Aug 15 - PRI1           -     -     -     (648.35)

Zero risk, 40% of the profit.  No wonder people hate what this site has become

wat?  you've won thousands from other people and you think you're a victim?

The losers are the victims; the site facilitates the stripping of money from them through courtsiding (horses, football, tennis) and rather than make a level playing field betfair simply take a bigger slice from winners (who can't find the same advantage elsewhere)

I don't bet live, but I have done moderately well over 14 years.  But at 40% tax, it doesn't pay anymore for the time involved, so my turnover has dwindled.  And tax beyond the 20% gross profit is an after thought at gaining revenue rather than redistributing money to the losers (do they get rebates on a bad month?)

It's not about doing well (or badly for that matter).  And it's not about me being a victim.  Governments redistribute wealth through taxation.  Betfair pretended that the premium tax was to introduced to finance marketing to bring new users, but in fact it has been used to finance dividends to shareholders.  And at first it was 20% to mimic GPT, but then became PC2 and PC3 to milk the winners.  It could have been used to improve live event management to prevent hoovering of dead money, it could have been used as kick-backs to losing bettors, it could have been used to lower the base rate for all.  But it wasn't, it was given to investors
