Make Believe, Belardo, Territories
I said Group 1 horses, not horses who had won Group 1s |
|
By:
Sorry I didn't know there was a different way of grading group 1 horses than them actually winning group 1 races.
My bad. |
|
By:
there is, put 10 sellers in a Group 1 one of them will be a Group 1 winner, doesnt make it a Group 1 horse

Apart from needing a minimum rating of 115 to run in a 3yo+ G1 that kinda works.

Did you really
|

And do you seriously believe that is an authentic example oneyallbeenwaiting4 to support your point?
|
|
By:
Its authentic enough in principle, the principle being that races are Grouped in name only.
Gleneagles has not run against a proper Group 1 horse in my opinion, was probably the worst Guineas ive seen, The Irish Guineas was even worse and just look at how the St James Palace form worked out. He is an average Group 1 miler in a poor year for the division, he isnt in the same class as Hernythenav for example. |

But it's not though is it because when was the last (or first time even) that 10 selling platers ran in a Gr1, even if it was permitted?
I understand the point you are trying to make by suggesting that not all Gr1 winners are genuinely of Gr1 standard but just think you went a little OTT with your analogy. Gleneagles can only beat what it comes up against and while beating a top class miler gives a horse a certain level of respectability by association, it doesn't mean a top class miler beating lower ability horses isn't still a top class miler if say for example it did it easily. |
