Not only do they make you sp only in the shops, ban u from putting on bets over the phone, restrict u to peanuts, they then take away your best odds guaranteed without telling u.
Had £100 on 6/4 shot at 11.15. Non runner already at 9.30. No further non runners. Was paid out at 6/4. I phoned up customer services to be told that rule 4 affects all bets no matter what time horse was withdrawn. Tried to explain to him this is wrong but he wouldn't have it. Wouldn't put me thru to a manager, checked with settlers who said they were right and I was wrong.
After arguing the point he eventually went away again and admitted that the actual reason was that I was no longer entitled to bog. I should have been told this but he admitted I wasnt. Still wouldn't put me thru to a manger and said it was tough.
Seriously, these bookies can just do what they like and it appears there is nothing we can do about it.

or Spoilsports in my case, had a 3/1 winner that went off 6/1 and a 9/2 shot went off 7/1 (£100 on each, acct 2 days old), paid me out at 3/1 and 9/2 citing I wasn't entitled to B.O.G. yet received no email or phone call (a few years ago mind you lol)

Why don't u2 just f### right off? This is a betting forum. There are plenty of people out there who have no idea how bookies actually work.the amount of people who were gobsmacked following the 3 tv programmes recently who didn't believe that bookies could restrict bets was amazing.
I have been restricted and lost bog before but not without being told. Why should I accept a loss on wht I thought I had? And as for giving up, I have had to accept reducing my stake by at least 50% and the number of bets by 50% also due to not being able to,get on. I would rather win less than lose like I have done the last 3 months. Big boss - yep, mossgo was the horse. Sorry for commenting on a forum. Jesus, go and play in the traffic. |

as for not understanding, for someone who only backs tipsters you seem to be taking a long time to realise and many many many many posts to understand what happens when you go down that road I do not arb, I do not follow telephone tipsters, I do not follow Pricewise or Hugh Taylor, yet I cannot get a bet on with ANY of the bookmakers, online or in local shops. My betting time is now 100% on Betfair. |

All the same only interested in f.o.b.t.'s.was at a do on Saturday.spoke to a coral manager who told me a lot of managers are taking assistant manager roll cos they're embarrassed themselves at turning bets away.the adverts with the small print ONLY ONLINE cause no end of argument.female customer had broken down in tears after losing too much on bandit during week.apparently customers after having rules explained regarding limits just bet £49.50 a spin and can then do as much as they like in.to be fair my local fredbet is very good.great staff and a good atmosphere.i worked and owned betting shops for28 years but no chance now.

I don't follow tipsters anymore, I don't back overnight, I don't back more than £50 but once u r banned online and in the shops they don't give u a second chance. That will hill account was my only account I had left that had bog and wasn't restricted massively.
I am happy to have to start betting All over again at a much lower stake but u can't just do that. |

Know I've posted this before but ladbrokes actually sent me an email.DEAR NIGEL PLACE A BET ON THE OPEN AND IF YOUR GOLFER MISSES THE CUT GET YOUR MONEY BACK UP TO £25.when he missed cut they said it was a mistake I didn't qualify.pointed out they had sent me 25 previous emails.they said they would do me a favour and honour email.told them to stuff it and closed account.they continued to send me emails for a further two weeks.

siralex, betting with bookies is finished (I think this is what the dealer is alluding to), new accounts last about as long as a f@rt in a wind tunnel.
the dealer is basically saying, in a roundabout way, that you should be spending your time trying to make it pay on here and stop whining about being knocked back by the bookies |

i have a bit of sympathy for the guy but fact he bet only profitable tipsters, fact he tried to always get best price, fact he bet the night before.
in the current climate what did he really expect??? its the constant bleating like its only him that is affected that i cant stand. now he expects them to forgive and forget, like i have said its a concession not a rule, you would like to think they would notify you before withdrawing it but legally i doubt they need to |

Big boss, I know what dealer is saying. I wasn't complaining about being knocked back. This is something that hasn't happened to me before so I brought it up,on here.
90% of people in the bookies aren't aware of what really goes on. I assume the other 10% are all on here and don't need telling then! |

Deposited £ 200 to claim the £ 200 matched bonus Had 2 bets £ 30 horse bet @ 7/2 won sp 7/2 £ 55 rugby bet lost After a week the £ 200 bonus disappeared from the balance , when asked why they sated t&c that the initial deposit must be turned over 8 times to qualify for the bonus, he stated that in his opinion that did not promote responsible gambling. Better was to follow when he withdraw the £ 250 remaining in the account the request was denied and it was now stated that because a withdrawal request was made before 8 times the initial deposit had not been turned over any winnings were forfeited. This is sharp practise |

Dealer - can I just ask what it matters how u make a profit? So what if I backed at top price and followed tipsters? It took me 16 years to have my first profitable year. Bookies have a built in overround on each race. As someone wrote in the racing post today, if they can't make a profit on 1.5% overround per horse then they shouldn't be in the business,
97-98% of punters who bet lose long term. What they actually want is that figure to become 100%. Surely if u can't win u can lose? They are supposed to be bookies after all. What about when they restrict u to a fiver at 8/1 but then don't cut the price? I thought they were supposed to play the market not the punter? |

siralex, I have lost thousands in terms of bookies not honouring B.O.G. over the last 6 years or so, you will find in small print somewhere that BOG can be removed without notification, it isn't etiquette but isn't illegal either.
