After I posted the figures for crooser, someone suggested that I repeat the exercise for oneyallbeenwaiting4 and TheNorfolkMafia, to his credit TNM told me not to waste my time as there would be no positives from it.
Worryingly oneyallbeenwaiting4 hasn't posted since I asked him for the date when he started putting his picks up....!

The following figures are to a 1 unit level stake

Advised Price Win     120.88
Advised Price Place     46.51
BSP Price Win          220.51
BSP Price Place          80.79
Industry SP Win        28.88
Industry SP Place     (18.73)

A few of the facts

Selections     419
Non runners     5
Winners          44
Places           127
Selections since last winner 14

In summary,  if you are hiding oneyallbeenwaiting4, it is now safe to post, the figures speak for themselves, well done.

As a footnote it should be made clear that this information is based on backs posted only, everyone will have seen some of the referred to forumites posts screaming full bank lays and many of those would have cleaned him out, but they were mostly posted in a short space of time when the person in question was looking to annoy or shock others, so they have not been included.

I have been posting Corky, I put up a 25/1 winner 4 days ago, actually been keeping an eye out to see when you were going to deliver the data, wasnt sure if you had given up or not.

Was never worried, put up way too many big priced winners on here to be in any risk, im just wondering how much better it could have been if I actually applied myself and wasnt posting a load of garbage amidst the clearly top class INFO.

The novelty of posting shight on here has wore off anyway.

Not bad for the forum moron.

Apologies must have missed it, the 400 odd selections took a fair amount of my time up...!

Shouldn't put yourself down (leave that to the rest of us...!)

Aye I thought it would have been a big task.

I did guarantee long term profit for a reason, historical data strongly hinted at it being a mathematical certainty, it was impossible for me to suggest otherwise.

I might start actually trying again and really show the doubters why I have been called a phenomenon.

Well done to the guys for making a decent profit, and well done to Corkie for taking the time to establish the 'FACTS', however, the limitations of his retrospective exercise have to be pointed out on 2 counts.

1. Corkie does not seem to have taken into account, or at least hasn't mentioned, the standard 5% Betfair commission calculation, which is a prerequisite for all who publish their p/l on here imo. However, both oney and crooser will still be nicely in profit even with that taken into account, so we're not going to worry about that too much.

However, point 2 is the one that matters, and I consider myself a leading authority on this subject having done a few of theses threads in my time, and that is the psychological aspect of declaring FROM THE OUTSET that you are going to be working to a staking plan and are going to publish your P & L on a daily basis.

You see, it alters the mind-set and influences how you select. Now take for example my current 'out-of-the-ballpark' guess thread, it had all gone rather t!ts up and I was over 50 pts down, fair to say the pressure was on, and I have to stick to a staking plan without losing credibility!

3ts EW on Diamondsandrubies got me out of the soft-and-smelly, but my point is, try doing this with the additional pressure of a staking plan and keeping a daily p & l as you go along, it ain't so easy!

Fair points George B, the exercise really was more to do with clarifying one way or another whether crooser and oneyallbeenwaiting4 proved to be as bad as many were making out, as I personally felt the criticism was uncalled for, more so in crooser's case than oneyallbeenwaiting4, though I was pleasantly surprised that oneyallbeenwaiting4 had proved to be so profitable as well.

I appreciate what you are saying but I don't think we will ever know whether they are "capable" as such, as it is impossible to gauge unless there was something at stake for them, and no scenario available to us, would create the relevant type of pressure that those who play for a living feel when they get the inevitable run of bad results or near misses or worse still a combination of the two...!
By:

When: 12 Jul 15 21:55
I didn't mean "for a living", I just meant for the challenge of it, as the forum offers the opportunity to have your own 'tipping column', so to speak. Unpaid, obviously, but the psychological aspect of it, that you know people will be reading (and judging!) and through good and bad, you're going to have to post your results.

Surprisingly, few have tried it, myself, robster, knot in wood, fryboy, giggilo, any others? I mean specifically selections with reasoning, with an updated P or L posted on a regular basis, over an extended period of say a season.

Neither really go in for explanations on a regular basis from the threads I've reveiwed and don't think either have the inclination to record an accurate p/l, sure the challenge is there for them both should they wish to take it on.

Claiming certain picks as winners and expecting people to know when to regard other posts as intending to annoy/shock rather devalues this exercise imo.

if the words MAXIMUM FULL BANK weren't included people make take the tips more seriously imho Wink for example a points system may be better advised , anyone advising full bank backs and lays are not going to be taken too seriously for obvious reasons
