just had the fateful pop-up that the great original site is going in a week or 2.

Betfair please keep the old site , I cant believe you are getting rid of your greatest asset ! it is far far better in every way than the new one , surely this is an ill considered and reckless act of corporate suicide.

You want me to beg? , I'll do it .

Sorry pumphol. Yes I have got them back on the old site by playing around with the options tag. I haven't got the colours for the US stuff but you never did. Don't really need them because the Yanks colour-code their racecloths.
Thanks.

Signed. Why is Aussie racing still "old site" ? Try switching between the two sites,  ROFLMAO !
Report salmon spray July 26, 2015 11:36 AM BST
I daren't even try switching sites. I prefer to use Firefox and the link given above works but if you switch to the new site you can't get back to the old site without having to put the link back in.
On Chrome, which I rarely use googling the exchange takes you to the new site but the old site option is still there. That works for the moment.
Report moondan July 26, 2015 12:03 PM BST
I have no problem getting to the old multiple site using firefox by either clicking onto multiples or bsp multiples but the singles markets win or place are slow and the fact your balance is hidden is amateurish in the extreme.
Not sure what their long term aim is but if it was up to me I would keep the old site and add a few of the ideas from the new site and then drop the newer site from a great height wrapped around the heads of those who thought it was a good idea, they could then claim job done.

I tried what you said, & got the new site.

I've got the new site in the dining room & the old site in the living room.

The only positive on the new site for me is extra place betting.

the new site needs some tinkering to get right -not in a massive way -it has potential and i do see a few benefits  , the colours need an option to change - they're very loud imo - bright blue and pink yukk .
The adverts/games promotions are highly annoying ,but this is how things are in 2015 .It's a commercial venture - nothing is done to suit Joe public unless there is money in it .  I seem to find it's working quite well on Google chrome.
I still prefer the old site as of 2015.

Having said that ,i think this site is the right way for BETFAIR .

They want under 30 players ,not the old hands i'm afraid and this new site is more up their alley way . I'm guessing most complaining (like myself ) are all over 30 and let me guess- none of us like change that much unless we see an instant progress.
The site will evolve and you will get used to it . But let me again repeat ,it's the votes of the 18 - 25 age group that matter ,  they are the spenders on here longer term.

We might as well shout at the heavens . If the youngsters hate it then yes,BF will revert back .
Report Coachbuster July 26, 2015 3:35 PM BST

its geared to the younger folk, the newbies and the clueless...hence the reason they're opening up new markets like E Sports and League of Legends.

ultimately you want people walking in, seeing your product and spending loads of money because they've been seduced by stuff like the Cash out facility...the old guard who know how to look after their funds are not wanted.

don't blame them to be honest...it's a business but ffs.

Betfair should be aware of the old sayings ...

'Look after what you already have'

'Don't bite the hand that feeds you'

In the latter case - Your 'bright young things', "Under 30s," will be mostly Backers -

The experienced OLDER Betfaiians are the Major LAYERS on here - and thus SEED the Markets.

NO LAYERS > NO Liquidity > NO Market = NO BETFAIR.
Report Darlo Bantam July 26, 2015 8:24 PM BST
I think similar onlooker.

This might sound or probably be outlandish, but I genuinely think Betfair have listened to customer reviews and opinions, and the layout is something that a lot of punters want. But you can't just have a site that panders to more customers' wants when they might all be £2 punters. When it comes to liquidity and Betfair exchange's future existence, not all customers are equal - you have to keep a broad spectrum of punters all happy. Yes, there will be a lot of important punters who don't care because they will use API, but there will also be lots who don't too. My own thinking is Betfair simply have forgotten to listen to those customers.
Report sparrow July 26, 2015 8:35 PM BST
Good point onlooker regarding the older players being the main layers.
Report Coachbuster July 26, 2015 8:37 PM BST
onlooker ,i agree mate ,they should look after their older customers  but there is little loyalty in business - the problem is BF don't seem that bothered about marginal sports ,only the big events which look after themselves - so it's not an issue for them .

The young will be backers ,and if the liquid ditty is  low on the exchange those  same youngsters may be tempted to have a look at the Sportsbook - by now  it will have barely dressed models luring them in Laugh

Not just being the main layers, they can hold money and turn it over. Running an exchange to earn commission?
They should be trying to attract new players into sb, arcade or bingo - which seem to be higher up the pecking order than the exchange.

Totally agree. However, Betfair - the initial idea anyway - is a unique product, which now has a couple of suitors but still have a huge market monopoly on the initial product. For that reason, they probably ought not take core customers for granted otherwise they risk losing what makes them unique.

Virgin,Tesco etc -i can think of loads  - but companies use sweeteners to get punters back  because deep down few customers have low moral values of their own .

If BF were in trouble and offered the compainants on here 1k of free bets they would be back like a shot - this is why firms take an arrogant attitude at times ,money is the key to power.
