AFTER THE SUSPENSION OF TWO RACECOURSE BOOKMAKERS AT ASCOT(RIGHTLY SO IMO)FOR NOT DISPLAYING STANDARD PLACE TERMS ON THEIR BOARDS,I WONDER WHAT ACTION IF ANY WILL BE TAKEN AGAINST THOSE RACECOURSES THAT RUN THEIR OWN IN HOUSE BETTING OPERATION,IT SEEMS THE RULES DISHED OUT TO RACECOURSE BOOKMAKERS REGARDING EWAY BETTING DOESNT APPLY TO THE ABOVE THREE RACECOURSES,I WONDER WHAT THE OFT WOULD MAKE OF ALL THIS!

Don't most of us want to see racecourses doing well so they can survive? These operations are rivals to Fred/Tote not course bookmakers. Soon as Fred's Tote licence runs out and all the money goes back into the game the better.

If it keeps a cinema going I'll pay OTT for it's popcorn, same scenario here.

And I would also like to see course bookmakers supported. Although when you see an outsider marked up at 20 and you know it's probably 70 on here it's a little hard to have sympathy.

the fear

one of the problems racecourse bookmakers have with chester bet is the fact they can set up where they like charge the bookmakers to bet and in the case of tatts bookmakers far to much, then take the bookmakers sp and then everytime knock 10% of and return there own sp.

also I would very much doubt the gambling commission put young people into them to catch them out nor chase them regarding displaying any terms the staff like the toat will have free entry and they wont need again like the toat to worry about any marketing fee.on the issue of skin cancer there outdoor staff need not worry as they can have there umbrella up all day.

bangor attract a different kind of punter and since the introduction of bangor bet the punters just don't go anymore.

Very fair points, foxy. What we need is a strong gambling commission but we all know that's not going to happen.

You could argue that the sp was based upon the prices hosted by this site and provided by the betting public, rather than provided by the largely bone idle on-course Betfair price + 10% mob, aka the bookmakers. Mischief
