Got big shoes to fill today has our Mick - Nick Luck took a day off. Channel 4 are trying to find out which of their commentators is contributing to their dire viewing figures so they are trying a rotation system a bit like Liverpool FC a couple of years ago. Fact is they are are all useless right down to the chappy who comes on at the big festivals and tells us, "There has just been a bet of £50 trillion to win £50 billion on the rails." Channel 4 will have finished with racing very soon. They are going to lose the big festivals to BBC and they are apparently not interested in the Saturday fodder. Clare Balding started distancing herself as soon as she realised what a bunch of carrots she had to contend with.

BBC will take over the big meetings as reported in The Times a few weeks ago. Channel 4 are sinking fast. Their Derby meeting figures were disastrous. They'll stick to Countdown as their big earner. There are some interesting personalities on that show and they don't have to wheel Alastair Down out to talk sentimental sh1te every now and then.

The worst of the worst....the people at ATR and Channel 4 must see something completely different to us.
I turned on the morning line for the first time in months to watch the kauto tributes...when I saw he was on again I went back to sleep.
Just painful

people who delight in ch4 failing should be careful of what they wish for..........bbc dont want racing..........they would cherry pick the best meetings and we would be lucky to have 10 saturday meetings a year.........we would be blank of racing the other 40 odd.....our sport will never attract millions on normal saturdays

Poor old Mick has to be the worst commentator on our TV's, pure lack of intellect, are the people who employ him are so ignorant of the racing industry that they think Mick is talking any kind of sense.
Just to compare him to the other course correspondent. Bob interviews lots of owner and trainers and passed on any info he finds out, Mat grilles as many as will speak to him and gives a selection in every race. Luke even has a go at giving viewer a selection. As for Mick he rambles on about how glossy the horses coat is and what a nice chap the jockey is, never giving an actual selection even when his own racing club horses are running. He brings nothing to the enjoyment of the coverage and should be removed from our screens and stick to his tipping lines and any other scam he can come up with to make money out of punters.

I agree to an extent cardiff - the frustrating thing, however, is that C4 seem to take absolutely no notice of what their core audience - racing fans - want from the coverage.
They can't seem to accept that the casual audience that the BBC attracted was mostly by virtue of the fact it was the BBC. They won't come to Channel 4. The sooner they realise this, the sooner they might start producing a programme that racing fans actually look forward to watching.

Gosden brought up race riding in his post race interview yest , why on earth was he not asked any questions regarding this issue that got all racings attention ????
I mean gosden was one who mentioned it so he opened the gate to be asked
because no one on ch4 would dare ask anything and risk the bisto that's why
CH4 is so so bland awash with train hoppers Gosden brought up race riding in his post race interview yest , why on earth was he not asked any questions regarding this issue that got all racings attention ????I mean gosden was one who mentioned it so
therein lies the common denominator of the problem because there is never direct criticism of the supposed top jockeys by the tv media and yet they are the most important component within a horse race - they effectively dictate how a horse is allowed to run & yet no-one ever is brave enough to offer any derogatory comments after a race for fear of being ostracised
in virtually every other sport there is open debate & different views as to whether someone has done well or not & criticism is offered if it is felt justified which can then be debated - all you ever hear is "so and so gave it a fantastic ride" because it won - often times it was actually an ordinary ride given by the jockey but do we hear any contrary view!!

The bird running the show has been contacted MANY times about how some of the official winning times are wrong on many occasions, and the importance of showing the starting stalls opening so that the racetimes can be verified, as opposed to zooming inside the stalls and not showing them opening. The problem is that RUK use these unprofessional Ch4 pictures in their replays regularly. Her response was flabbergasting.
1. Stop looking for attention. 2. You can hear when the starting stalls open.[Totally no idea of how racetimes are verified frame advancing a paused screen!]
Basically just told us to f-off. 5 races at Royal Ascot were given the zoom inside the stalls treatment, including The King George...

Jesus Christ looks amazing, a gaaarjus haarse, favourite for this haarse race after an impressive performance at naaasereth last time. He has loads of followers, turns the opposition into daaankeys, and faaar me, this is a haarse from the gods.
