The out of control fixture list continues.
Field sizes continue to drop.
The deluded BHA thinks they can attract more owners.
They cannot do so largely because the prize money is appalling.
The field sizes therefore continue to drop.
There are integrity issues with small fields.
Most punters do not like betting on uncompetitive small fields.
Therefore there is less betting turnover.
The deluded BHA and its bookmaker overlords think more races equal more betting turnover.
The sport is like a lorry rumbling slowly down a road towards a cliff face with the handbrake off and no one driving it.

Carry on ranting. I agree entirely. Cut back 33% of the fixtures and redirect that prizemoney to the other 67%.
There would still be enough races to satisfy owners and trainers and we would have bigger fields so the jockeys would not lose out either. Betting turnover would not diminish and the tracks would still do ok. We should run the BHA Barton.  |

Keep up the crusade BB. Real horse racing fans agree with virtually all the comments. Situation is farcical. Nick Rusts first big issue to deal with and he rips up Newcastle turf track. Has anyone actually asked why they couldn't wait another year for Catterick?
To be honest I find it hard to bet on most northern racing now. Half the time you are only guessing as to who is trying. Market interpretation is now almost as important as form study. It's uncanny how the relevant gambles have the required pace scenario for their horses, no better examples of this lately than Spitting Micks double at Thirks I think the other day where one was handed a ridiculously easy lead despite on paper there being several other pace horses and the other where they went way too fast up front to set it up for his closer and where the jockey on the original fav was at pains not to win. |

I go racing most days weather it be for work or pleasure in the winter its mainly pleasure and there is a regular flow of punters you see at each track the worrying thing is however I am one of the younger ones and I am in my 50s,in the Richard hughes article after brigader night at sandown he rightly pointed out we are a sport who does its best to lose the supporters we already have.
