It happens far far too often to be a coincidence and often the horses involved could not be picked out as likely to lead by anyone looking through the field and making a judgement based on past performances.

We know how tight knit the weighing room is so it's inevitable they will try it on. It's the stewards who should be all over them. Same with ones going off too fast. Betfair Eddie had some bad luck getting done for that!

Stephen Arnold- The go too fast too early king of the owners. Lots of different trainers/horses but the tactic remains: common denominator is the owner.

It only makes the game easier if you are part of the inner circle. Otherwise you can either back the gambles at the bottom end of the price or oppose the money.

In Australia new or unusual tactics have to be declared to the Stewards before the race.

But then again, unlike the BHA, the racing authorities there don't have a direct financial interest in punters losing...

No bet here myself but a match on paper and the one backed into 1-2 is lobbing along in front in his comfort zone whilst his rival has given him a 5 length start.
