Interesting that the Racing Post put him up as a 3yo in the result section owing to his birth date so perhaps he will improve a lot by the autumn.

unfortunately they picked the wrong race would of almost certainly won the kings stand. would have a better chance in the nunthorpe than the july cup judged on yesterday.

I believe BB will be in better shape for the July Cup, he's a gross little bull and that run in the Diamond Jubilee would have tightened him right up. Remember he had not raced since March 15

He was finishing off the Diamond Jubilee better than every horse except the winner (who had a much easier run) and with the advantage of the run under his belt and a better ride, I doubt he'll be letting anything pass him in the July Cup.

Yes he might well have won the Kings Stand, but that was more due to the Kings Stand being a weak renewal this year, not because he is a better horse at 5F than 6, he isn't.

I thought that BB was well beat at halfway so not sure about 5 furlongs. The winner was much farther back at halfway and had to come round the field while BB travelled dead straight so can't see how the winner had an easier passage.

>>I thought that BB was well beat at halfway

Not sure which race your talking about because it doesn't sound like the Diamond Jubilee

>> so not sure about 5 furlongs.

I can tell you, he's run off his legs by very good 5F horses. Needs 6F to show his best. Would not rule out him being very effective at 7F

>>The winner was much farther back at halfway and had to come round the field

You make it sound like it is a huge disadvantage to come round the whole field on a straight track? Of course racing around a bend it is a huge disadvantage to come around the whole field as your covering extra distance the wider you get, but on a straight track they all ran more or less the same distance unless you zig zagged down the straight and nobody was zig zagging LOL

The winner had cover had a big pack of horses which he used to advantage to slipstream behind, and then when it came time to sprint, he had those same horses to chase. He sprinted very well but he was entitled too, he'd done the minimum of work in the early stages.

>> while BB travelled dead straight so can't see how the winner had an easier passage.

And your logic would make sense if we were racing robotic horses, but as they are real living, breathing animals that instinctively like to run in a pack, they are not comfortable sitting out alone 10 yards to the left of another pack of horses, poor horse probably didn't know what was going on... is this a race or a track gallop? I don't blame the him either, we were just as confused watching it.
