you need to know how to ride in the country your riding it shows how much jocks do make a diff only wesley horses win that ridden by known course riders and as you say guy on Oz hoss there has had a mare
By:
Seemed to think it was an apprentice hands and heels race??
By:
must have thought at some stage it was odd he was on his own

By:
Same jock has one win at this course on his record, so he can ride it. But why not try ffs??
By:
Jury out IMO. Strip of ground may have been a bit quicker? Mugged by Frankie.
By:
FFS lads this guy was winning HUGE racesover hefor Godolphin a few years ago, knows the course like the back of his hand...

Williams has ridden in this country lots of time when he was with cannon. did not do anything wrong. Beat the rest easy
By:
yes Stu but stalls number, ground distance may have been diffrent cant just appear for one ride like that, it stood out as a bad ride
By:
Probably riding to orders and did little wrong.

to barnaby
By:
It was a good ride give him a break
By:
Williams has ridden many times this country and had a great spell with Mick Channon.
By:

Great kid turning up suffering from Bells. Top top kid!
By:
Ward comes over as a top guy as well
By:
how can it be a 'good ride' when he made little effort?
Beggars belief. |
By:
Exactly TMB!
By:
he wins the July Cup with any sort of a ride, best horse in that race by a considerable margin
By:
Great ride, you are the clueless one buddy.
By:
behave stu you are completely wrong
By:
walked the course to find best strip of ground
ran up that strip and just got caught on the line and he almost stole the race by being so far wide. would probably have been easier for the american horse to catch him if he had been in the bunch with the rest. |
By:
so, not bothering with the whip when needed is now a good ride. Ok.
By:
when i saw him walk the course he was nowhere near where the horse ran.
By:
I know who to call if my kids get sick. Will be straight on the phone to Derek Smith.
By:
Outpost.I think that is just about right.
By:
Guess they thought 2nd prize money was just about ok
![]() |
By:
He didn't almost steal the race, he was beaten on the best horse in the race because he isolated himself. Williams has just admitted on CH4 that he was disadvantaged having to race on his own.
By:
agreed, would have won if there were other horses around him.
such is life. |
By:
Did at least TWO things wrong in the race, but apparently on here some think a 'good ride' on the best horse that just got beat....

By:
qoute from R Hughes i wont come up the stand side its virgin ground your better off in the middle
By:
I think the winner would have beaten it easier had they ran together! Dettori said he always had the Aussie in his sights.
By:
He would say that, however it is all speculation and we will never know.
Hope there is a rematch. If so the aussie horse will be getting backed. |
By:
True Aberdonia. Stiffer uphill at HQ would suit todays winner even better!
By:
Horses are pack animals they react and feed off the energy of the others.
How often do horses in the UK win being isolated? Craig Williams over analysed the pace aspect of the race. Thinking can be dangerous for these Australians. |
By:
Thinking was not apparent within any of that ride, neither was effort which is to me just as bad surely!
By:
it was a group 1 race at royal ascot, of course he was trying.
if he had his time again, i am sure he would ride a different race. |
By:
Paralysis by over analysis!
By:
All I know is BB has never been ridden like that before.
Certainly can't have helped the horse chances. But on reflection, he's beat the Euro horses easily. We just didn't count on how good the American was. ![]() |
