The nonsense spouted this week about the Stoute horses and the now drifting Telescope just shows how little a grasp we as humans have on statistical analysis. Our brains are wonderful and complex organs but when it comes to statistical bias we are chimpanzes.  He has had a few pull up this week which in the eyes of those who have to fill air time, means his yard is on the brink of oblivion. If you were intending to back Telescope I suggest you have more on at the price you never expected and thank the media

Having backed Yarrow yesterday I'd be worried, in fact I'd be very worried re the yard. This lad went from been happy to screaming in the space of a furlong, nothing of note has performed well in recent weeks excluding the one pulled up injuried yesterday.  Worrying times my friend, worrying times.

He had a winner at Leicester the other day at 6/1 and Dartmouth outran his odds at Ascot on the 18th as did Quick Defence. What this really boils down to is that in the last couple of days he has a couple that have not just run poorly but pretty much ground to a halt. To some this means the whole stable is infected with equine Ebola to others it signals an opportunity

Good luck with this but Yarrow was heavily backed and still ran appallingly - ok it was pw but it was backed before that and so have a few others. It always concerns me if a stable has backed runners that run badly more than if they drift - I've had a few pennies on sheikhthingy for interest in the race but Stoute should get the winner - just not with my money on it!

It is not all nonsense. When stables have a problem it does not affect all of their horses so a few will run well enough to satisfy those who don't believe in trainer form. In my view several Newmarket trainers are out of form despite the odd winner. Varian, M Bell, Ed Dunlop despite his Gold Cup win, Lady Cecil, Fanshawe, Cumani and Stoute. None are getting the results you might expect. That does not mean that Telescope won't win as he has a lot in hand on ratings but I would still not be backing any horses trained by those above.

Really annoying me that i cannot get 3/1 on Eagle Top.

Stoute has been unlucky this week, injuries can happen to all horses, now get that listed winner back near evens you lemmings.

Telescope does not have a lot in hand on ratings,in fact this is a tight race on paper,Telescope not a prolific winner in stakes races having only won 3 from 10 and there are at least 2 serious rivals in Eagle Top and Postponed and imo 5/4 was way too short anyway,I dont fancy anything in this race myself, but if I was pushed to have a bet I would back Eagle Top.

I agree with Sonko Grin
Fancy ET big time with or without Soutes Horses running badly.

I also like Eagle Top but despite what I said below, Snow Sky has been on my to follow list since his 2yo debut, so I can't resist £2 at 15.5.

Only 2 5yo winners in 14 years and the last 7 have all been 4yo so the Chimp in me says that the Stoute stable inconsistency is not the only reason why the price is drifting.Wink

i have been waiting for Telescope in this race for weeks and thought he was the cert of the week.

I have had more on not because of this post but because i will be kicking myself if he goes and wins, but I'm worried when i thought he was unbeatable a few weeks back. I Literally think if hes 100% its a one horse race and he wins half the track.

What will the going be like with the rain that's coming down and does telescope not prefer firm ground
By:
Ibrahima Sonko
When: 20 Jun 15 13:08
not proper rain, wont make an ounce of difference to the going but may make the sandy bends slippy.

Cheers.telescope basically needs everything to be spot on I was going to back it but somethings telling me no to.shame about stravagante, had the poor horse in my Canadian along with illuminate Arab dawn erveyda and hootenay didn't never realised it was injured that badly

I dont think the going will be an inconvenience if it were to change at all. Just dont fancy Telescope today. The RM factor has it at a false price IMO. Watched Eagle Top on its return. A 100% non buzzer that day. Jockey may as well have been asleep. It was laughable. Different today, FOR SURE!

It's always been a inconsistent horse and with the stout stable form a bit of a worry and like you have said people will back it because of the Moore factor,

That race really illustrated my point about stable form. Although Snow Sky won for Sir Michael, Telescope really bombed so there is definitely a problem in the yard.
