Ascot racecourse and the whole Ascot experience was probably the best day out in my life, from the moment we embarked on the 9-35am Royal Ascot Express to singing around the bandstand after racing I enjoyed every bloody minute. All my strong bets and main fancies floundered on the Good to Firm surface but between me and my brother in law we managed to bag the colour of The Queens Hat, Waterloo Bridge(Where we stayed) Trip To Paris(Backed it since it won on Grand National day) Time Test, Curvy and Space Age to £5 coincidence bets.

Before racing we had a little walk around and bumped into Tanya, she was lovely and very friendly. We had a talk to her for a few minutes about mainly King of Rooks versus Log out Island and after we walked away I said to my brother in law the way fella's do, would yer. ****g right I would he said. And I would too..

Only complaints would be the Tote having only one window open in their three window booths with long queues and the sight of a very small young girl really struggling to carry one of those Stella beer barrels on her back..

I went with my wife and two others, all four of us enjoyed it so much we are talking about going Thursday and Saturday next year with a day out in London on the Friday. Waterloo is a nice place and buzzing even midweek and I get the feeling most who are out in the pubs and restaurants are locals.
The only lager on the course was Stella which we all like and was £5.20 a pint, Aintree is about the same.
