To celebrate Korals eclipse day on the 4th July they are having a circus themed party in all of their shops, punters will get a crazy hat to wear and in each shop there will be an old style cardboard figure of a clown with the face cut out for punters to shove their mush in and have a photo taken, they will be charged however, but the money will go to charity.

punters are going to be asked for any further "fun" event suggestions for the day, can anyone on here give us their "fun" ideas Crazy

the other half has suggested that they take decent bets for the day instead of limiting punters to a tenner but as she said every one would just think they were having a laugh, the alternative idea was to put the plank who thought of this in the cut out and throw bricks at them

hey up ronnie...can a customer request a copy of the information about them on the screen when they are monitored

and why is it if you go into a shop for the first time with a bet they ring up and class you as red grade even though

they don't know you ?

A member of staff would not be allowed to give a customer monitored information, whether you can under the freedom of information act write to the customers service team I am not sure, but as your name isn't kept on the monitored list its always a nickname so say if you were cockney called mick you would be put down as Geordie harry, so chances are they wouldn't even be able to tell who you were.

regarding a new customer being treated as red grades I would never treat anyone in my shop as a red unless I knew they were.

why not just run it as a betting shop rather than a kindergarten? Can't believe nobody vetoed this idea at board level and Staff must be dreading it having to ring up a nifty each way @ 5s and ask the punter to put on a silly hat before he receives the KB and is allowed a score win only.

thanks ronnie, the annoying thing is the pleasure some staff seem to get from offering

reduced stakes after ringing up .some of the restrictions, especially on golf outright markets are a

disgrace. you get the odd trader ( initials given when staff get code when ringing up )who will

lay a bet but most seem scared stiff of laying anything above £25 each way.

Ronnie, it sounds like an idea thought up by some marketing type with a silly middle class name who has never been in a betting shop or placed a bet in their life.  Industry is full of them.

don't forget if you go into Joes tomorrow you will have the privilege of paying £3 to take a selfie; that's right a selfie; of your face in a cut out clown, its not even a cardboard cut out but a poster sized piece of paper of a clown with the face cut out, alternatively you can pay a pound to wear the crazy hat, you cant keep it though, but its all for charity and nothing to do with Joes dragging punters in to push scratch cards down their neck.

Talk about the lunatics running the asylum, still I bet you lot have all given them your suggestions, some of my punters have told me theirs but I cant put them on here cause I'll get banned.

Ronnie the problem lies in your quote of "my punters".

Managers or arcade attendants as they are now known as are brain washed into thinking it is there own money they pay bets out with etc.Used to love hearing old school managers saying I laid a even ton or I got caught with 3 numbers on Irish lotto last night.

Knew a manageress who had over 20 years service with the company ,and when the fobts were being brought in she rang Area Manager and said when you bring the terminals to my shop also bring me another full time Cashir to share the work load ,he laughed at her and before they had wired them up on installation day she had her coat on and locked the door when they left and never went back !!!

Them are proper old school mangers who will never be replaced not todays mugs who still think THEIR shop is this n that ,the lunatics used to be in front of the counter now they are behind it as well ..

Be lucky

In those days if you walked into a shop in a disguise you were in there to rob the place ,now if you have dark glasses on and a syrup you are either trying to get a pony on a pricewise horse or trying to get a 100/110 on a footy team who are trading at 1.89 on machine .

I wont even mention a manager in Rochdale of the bald knocker who has got the BIG C and under going chemo treatment and not Entitled to sick pay while he is off .

Ronnie .do the coral shops warrant two staff at all times.tell us the number of slips taken now in comparison to twenty years ago. I can go into a shop for three hours and they would not take fifteen bets ,and this is during racing hours.

the shop I am at this week warrants 3 staff never mind 2, sadly its not for over the counter its for the bingo; yep bingo; it averages 3-4 hundred bingo slips every day, but otc slippage we only take 200 slips a day, 20 years ago same shop would be taking 600 slips a day a the least. regarding stakes well down, plenty of silver money but that's all, sadly the 50 and 100 pound a race punters don't come in any more, but then that's probably because they have all been made red grade.

ghostbuster

your friend has my every sympathy I was off for 6 months with the big c and got 3 months pay then £79 a week sick benefit and a warning about my sick record.

off to serve my punters now, the ones who whichever shop I am in I do my best by and get as much on for them as I can, sometimes even more and as many on here know I am often my jacksy kicked for it.

Corals Manager on the phone to Traders Office -

There's somebody at the counter wants £40 on a 6/4 shot.

Trader: - What does he look like?

Manager: - A Clown - and he's got his head stuck in a piece of cardboard

Trader: - Tell him he can have a score, then... But make sure he leaves the cardboard behind when he goes.

Ronnie. thankyou for your reply. remember in the days you were taking 600 slips on an average day, you were settling bets manually. Some progress then.

they don't know you ?  you can get any information that a company has about you on computer or file or even call recordings its called a subject access request the most the can charge you is £10 they have 4 weeks if not they have to tell you why it will take longer , send it in recorded delivery so they cannot say they never received the subject access request ,

Hi Ronnie

Nice to see the coral blue still coming up with ideas to thrill the punters - i would suggest a pineapple chunk eating contest with the local Hound the 1/3 favourite or you could have a machine tournament with the winner actually getting the prize - or a sponsored snog with Miss Kirby £5 a pop all in !!!

Joes have reached a new low.

A mate of mine set an account up last Friday and had never had an account before nor anyone in his family.

He went to have a bet on saturday and he was restricted to winning a maximum £5 on every bet, not even enough stake to have the £20 free bet.

He has now withdrawn the money.

How on earth they have any customers is beyond me!

really nice to hear from you, must be 2 years since we spoke and were at York, you did the best thing going getting away from joes, you cant smile now without getting a warning.

spoke to the hound a couple of weeks ago, the old bat barred him out of our old shopLaugh, never seen mrs Kirby since I left the old place.

We had security in a couple of weeks ago, they still remember coming in and finding the cash in the bin and not the safe, how we got away with that one I don't knowWink

give us a ring if you ever fancy a day out, we could take mrs Kirby and the hound for a few laughs.
