On the one hand he tries to make a near-empty Uttoxeter look exciting. Yet on the other if there is a nose or short-head photo finish, which a commentator says is close, he is quick to say "IT IS NOT CLOSE". He should not deflate the excitement of a close finish by saying it is not close. Racegoers (admittedly not aware of Chapman's view) like the "Who's won?" element that he does away with.

When you're having a good day or not playing he's very likeable, my nan loves him! if you're doing your nuts you want to strangle the orange fecker.
You can tell he loves racing and he's good at his job, he's done some very good pieces, Henry Cecil and Freddy Head spring to mind.
