GOLDREAM  beats MEDICEAN MAN

Could you imagine a result like that in the halcyon years?

Mind you - there would not have been all these large and 'EVERYTHING has got a chance' fields in those days, either.

Got into the game when Sharpo /Marwell and Moorestyle where @ their peak no other hoss really had a chance of winning the sprints when theses where around .
Now its a lottery.

Little more than top handicappers these days , very poor quality race , and this has been the case for some time now.

Dajur and Lochsong

my 2 fav sprinters of all time. Either of those would have won today without coming off the snaff.

Spot On - sixtwosix  - As emphasised by many of them also contesting the 'top' Sprint Handicaps - and turning those races into little more than a condensed, mixed weights, Listed race ... as opposed to the, by far more attractive,  longer handicap spectacle that they, too, once were.

After the AMERICAN beating the AUSTRALIAN in the Diamond Jubilee -

Just how ordinary has British Sprint racing become - compared to the halycon years gone by.

Dayjur would be in despair.

Commonwealth winner might be different class but he has to show that performance was not just a one-off.

Just look at all the winners of the July Cup through the 80's to highlight it ....any number of others....last tycoon, sheikh albadou...zilzal sprinting would give them a headstart today....more recently the Stravinsky's and mozarts would all gag up.

yes, proper group horses in the 80s, just glorified handicappers these days.
