This is Flat racing, in the height of summer. Just let nature take its course
Ascot norm do a great gd with the ground for the start of the Royal meeting, so will once again trust them to get it right. Last yrs meeting was officially started on gd ground, more like gd/gf in pls, which will prob be the same again this yr, thats fine imo, it is a 5day meeting, dont want it getting like a road. Day 1 times were gd last yr, so it was more like g/f. Ascot is an excellent turf surface & horses who dont want it 2 quick tend to let themselves down on the surface imo. So unless the heavens open on Monday or Tues morn (hope not) the ground will be fine.
