Anyone have any suggestions for a pub in London to watch Royal Ascot next Thursday. Sydney Arms and Royal Exchange have been suggested - wondered if there were any hidden gems about?

I don't know about the others, but the Royal Exchange always has the racing on - we often go in for a pint after work. That said, in our office it's know as 'sh*t pub' by the girls, so read into that what you will...

There is only one choice and that is The Coach and Horses, Greek Street, Soho. One of our greatest pubs although last time I was there a pint cost just under £6.00 which is expensive even for London standards.

coach and horses has a rich history johnny, watering hole of the late jeffrey bernard who was briefly a correspondant for the RP amongst other things and who became the subject of the west end show bearng his  name.of equal notoriety was the legendary landlord of the time norman balon, supposedly the rudest landlord in britain.

nice place in the summer to sit outside and watch oddballs like mustang floating about.not a racing boozer though.Happy

I saw that play chavman, "Jeffery Bernard Is Unwell." The great Peter O'Toole played him.
Thing about The Coach and Horses is it will be completely mobbed which put me off suggesting it as a likely venue.

There used to be a good pub just off of Richmond Green, always had the racing on. Can't for the life of me remember its name though.

My brother was head doorman at The Park Lane Hilton for 10 years and in that time he met untold amounts of famous people, royalty, actors, pop stars, sporting heroes, politicians you name it he probably crossed paths with them at some stage.
Anyway, out of all of them Ollie Reed was his favourite by a distance. He was a regular guest there and no matter what time of day or night he was always pissed and had two nice sorts one on each arm. What a life that man led.

Laptop malfunction sorry about that, most loathed was Cilla Black. A truly vile person by all accounts.

The Angel and Crown in that neck of the woods is alright and usually has the racing on. Doubt it's the same one though, as it's a bit further away from the Green, sort of behind the station.
