Without getting into a heated argument I was wondering if Betfair will breaking consumer right laws if they go ahead with their proposed plans to switch off the old site this year.As far as I can see no customer has posted that the old site should be switched off.In the old days when people joined Betfair tearms and conditions where agreed.(a contract). Now betfair are changing these contracts to suit themselves without the expressed wishes of their customers. Anybody got any views.
you'd get more interest if you started an all in thread brassneck. I don't suppose that we actually legally signed up to a type of site or typeset framework. We signed up to Betfair and they are still providing a service. I'm not sure the intricacies and vagaries of providing that service through IT limitation or improvement are in the T&C's. No matter, the usage of Betfair has evolved as have players and markets,it is what it is an absolute behemoth in the non competitive gambling world. Where bookies limit or restrict non profitable customers I can see BF doing likewise soon, charging the recreational punters £2-£5 a week if not generating enough juice or playing the sportsbook or casino. I loved the idea and ethos once, now it just isn't the same experience.

If betfair do close down the old site this might make punters migrate to the purple site as this is so similar.this would be a massive own goal by betfair

Brassneck...There are no consumer right laws being broken;companies are always amending/changing their web sites.I wasn't actually aware that the old site was being switched off this year.

When I joined betfair.i had to agree to T and C. I had to post a bank account statement to them,i had to post a copy of my driving licence and my past port.i also had to send a utility bill with my home address, and a copy of my bookmakers licence.i was sent forms to sign also. But from what I read on the forum, they have plans to switch the old site off.(unless its all BS.) I think this is a big mistake for betfair, and I feel it will cause a rapid exit of customers.Surely they know what they are doing, why do they not clarify the situation and post their intentions.

but there are consumer laws in the 1982 European consumer rights to cover such an event taking place on an internet service.im sure betfairs legal team are up to speed with them, and I can not see any improvements in the old site for a long long time ,in fact its at a stage of being rendered not fit for purpose which is a violation of the exact law. So my question is "if they have no plans to switch off the old site why are they not improving it"

Anyway, my imput on the subject is not going to change anything,But I am entitled to my opinion and if anyone from betfair staff are reading this thread its my opinion that closing down the old site will do the organization a lot damage that will not be repairable. This is just my opinion and thank you for allowing me the chance to express it.

365 changed their site a couple of years back - everyone moaned, no one sued them, then realised it was for change and now it is better than the old site they had, just like many other bookmakers sites - i am still flabbergasted anyone uses the old site, i have not used it for donkeys and do not miss anything....although mainly use Gruss nowadays, but sometimes switch back to Bet Angel...i am mid 40's so not an age thing, just being savvy..the old site looks like ceefax and the coding looks woeful and why should they support a site with code that does not exist in the 2015+ era?
just my thoughts, but i know i am right long term

if charging winning customers between 20%--60% hasnt created a migration then the chances of a site format change doin it are 1,000.000/1.

Nothing comes close to betfair exchange , they rightly know this and can do what they like because they know the core will carry on regardless , have you ever tried using lads exchange its a joke
I don't like the new site either but I guess im going to need to just get used to it and hope they improve it
though other side of the coin is when they changed the format of forum it died almost overnight , when the premium charge came into force liquidity dropped in many markets , neither have recovered fully

At least if the old site is switched off then we will all be competing in the same playing field. Punters like Prince Purple do not realise the delay they are suffering in processing, especially close to the off. I particularly hate placing a bet right on the off and not knowing whether it has been accepted before the suspend monkeys activate their switch. I then go into betting in running to place the bet again and, lo and behold, the original bet mysteriously appears matched in its entirety!

what ?
the new bookmaker sites with so many things going on in their homescreen, Romanian division three volleyball live matches in play alongside 300 others that nobody bets on , and that it takes about 2 minutes to load the page using a NASA super computer.
