Horse very unlucky in the States, drawn on the wrong side of the track at HQ and a nice run last time out. Should not have been 120/1 on here.

To be fair whenever an outsider wins how many trainers say that they're shocked? They all give the line about it showing the right signs at home that week etc.
Report tomhunt June 5, 2015 5:13 PM BST

No surprise to Eddie the Shoe, he tipped it before the race at 100/1.

Fancied her for the Guineas myself Cardiff and backed her at big odds to no avail. Had the grand sum of £6 on her today as the price was too tempting to miss. Not after timing honest.

Big Issue - Fully aware it was up 4 furlongs in trip but so was the horse that beat it 41 lengths last time and she has stayed perfectly well too. So 41 lengths of improvement is not explained by the step up in trip.

Happy days the owner keeps his horses on the farm I work on and yes I backed her at Newmarket no bet today but can look forward to her babies
Report Layboy June 5, 2015 7:21 PM BST
As the owner wasn't at all surprised that it improved 41 lengths I am surprised he didn't share his inside information with your farm.Confused

The Racing Post say the Epsom stewards wanted to speak to Aidan O'Brien but he had flown home to Ireland.
They wanted to ask him why he was still saddling Together Forever when the jockeys were told to mount.
Can anyone think of anything else they should ask Aidan?  Did the stewards not declare that they are wearing blinkers?
Report Try My Best June 5, 2015 7:56 PM BST
The Epsom saddling blocks and paddock are a disgrace for our flagship event. Saddles the horses himself in the paddock area rather than doing it in the sheds that Epsom offer. Imo it really is a poor racecourse. Would rather go watch racing at Pontefract than go again to this hole. Probably got a bit behind with him having the 3 runners and Together Forever playing up a bit
Report cardifffc June 5, 2015 8:08 PM BST
layboy......was only beat just over 7 and a bit lengths in ireland .........think AFTER the race think aiden seemed to imply the horse was given too much to do

11kv - "Colm and Ryan whispering in the jocks room before the race ,both look a little startled when the C4 camera panned to them...."

Now Colm, I am gonna hit the front about a furlong and a half out and my horse will idle a bit. Don't worry about the boss's other two, we've arranged for the Harrington horse to take them out.........and don't whatever you do play second or third fiddle here, the boys know and you're here to win.

Wouldn't it have been better for the owners of the 2nd to have had their 1000gns winner also win the Oaks, rather than have a horse owned by someone else but trained by their main trainer do so?

If the trainer of the winner supposedly knew the score all along, what kind of trainer stitches up his main employers, as well as his own son so as not to put him on the winner that he apparently knew was going to win all along? I'd have thought too that Aidan O'Brien's employers would have liked to have known the score so that they knew exactly where they stood with own runner, trained by his son-in-law of one of those owners too, who had a chance of a fillies classic double?

It was obviously a surprise to all of them and the jockey bookings alone should tell you that, assuming the winning owner left it up to the trainer to sort that out and apart from anything else, remind my what the winning distance was again? Did they really know it all to be able to be that precise?
Report SecondComing June 6, 2015 5:03 AM BST
had the winner as clear top pick
Report Layboy June 6, 2015 9:57 AM BST
No HOMEFORTEA I was referring to the yards shock 25/1 Guineas winner that then went onto get beaten a total of 24 lengths in her next 2 outings, never again coming close to emulating her 9 length classic success.

Anyone who judges Qualify on her Newmarket form needs to reevaluate.

She ran much better in the Irish and looked every yard a middle distance horse. It`s just that no one expected this much improvement for the step up.

She was only rated 3lb lower than the 3rd. So in hindsight obviously the price was far too high.
