Disappointing last time out over 6 furlongs, however, penultimate run over today's distance (5f) was arguably a career best effort and subsequently runs off a 1lb lower mark in today's contest. Has won in a 0-65 H'cap three outings ago, albeit on the fibresand, but with encouraging form in a better class of race on the turf since, the 20/1+ currently on offer could well prove to be extremely generous.
3.45 @ Nottingham - Borderlescott (14/1)
13 years old now, but this warrior has shown he still retains plenty of ability. Only beaten 1½ lengths last time out in a similar race at Goodwood, but also has more inspiring form on offer dating back to only the end of last year in class 2 H'caps. In a race where I am keen to take on the 7/4f who has been raised 10lbs in the weights for an easy win in a 0-85 H'cap last time out (only 6 runners), it could well pay to side with consistency and class, something which Borderlescott still has a touch of even in his teenage years.
Thanks all, unfortunately no single bet on Ya Halla... if the old warrior doesn't win/place then there will be no pick up for me.
Exciting times here; fingers crossed.
