About time Godolphin started getting some decent Jockeys !

any top jock with any ambition wont want to ride for them as they cant compete at the top level any more unless you count that Meydan nonsense as proper racing which it clearly isnt

Godawful are now specialists at Meydan Lingfield Nottingham and nowhere else

Dettori, Barzalona, Buick, Doyle all excellent jockeys. Who would you suggest ?

Personally think it's the standard of horses they have rather than the jockeys but what do I know ...

There is nothing wrong with their horses or riders. Buick top jockey as of this morning. Appleby top trainer. This thread reminds me of the clowns that support Newcastle suggesting that Pardew was not doing a good job.
I suspect the powers that be at Godolphin have NEVER been happier with their personnel. It is at last a team effort from the top to the bottom.

Buick a top jockey? He probably thinks he is. Or like so many supposed top jocks is he just occasionally a bit better than a big heap of garbage?

Original poster is quite correct Doyle was asleep in the stalls giving punters no chance of collecting anything. First rule of punditry find every angle possible but don't criticise James Doyle.

I don't know any Newcastle fan who wasn't pleased Pardew was released. The unfortunate thing is they didn't replace him with an experienced manager. Pardew was tactically inept.

You'll no doubt come back with how well he's done at Palace. As with most new appointments the team got a lift and Palace have some talented offensive players. There last four results were defeats, lets see how he does over a full season.

There is actually something wrong with the Godolphin horses and it's that they have nowhere near as many top notch ones as an operation of that size really should have and especially in comparison to other owners of a similar standing, or they only have around as many top ones as other owners with a lot less money being spent on their set ups.

The numerous top class jockeys they have had riding for them in recent seasons can't all be bad but you can't do it without the quality horses. It's one thing being flat track bullies on the AW, racing well bred and/or expensive runners against cheaper ones from the smaller yards but Godolphin also have to be competing better at the top end of the races too.

very good points ima_  the quality of the horses for the size of the operation is limited at best - considering the length of time they have been involved you would think their breeding would be producing a significantly better standard of thoroughbred than is evidenced by results - in one sense perhaps the operation is simply too large and the resources are then diluted

They are a World-wide organisation and not just GB.

Just because they aren't dominant in GB doesn't make them a failure.

It's all about breeding/profit

I'm sure Coolmore are world wide but they make sure the core of their business in Ireland is completely successful which permeates to other part of their empire - not sure Godolphin can say the same

I agree, but Godolphin are UAE and have many more runners in different Countries including GB

Godolphin  has had nearly 1300 runners here in the last 12 month , they do have a 24% strike rate but an average of over 3.5 runners per day seven days a week 52 weeks of the year just shows they have lost the plot

There's no such thing as buying success. Maybe they should think about that one long and hard. Buying into Jack Hobbs ... didn't see that one coming!

They had SDS, one of the best jockeys around imo.
