His show-jumping background was evident at the last there, where he saw the perfect stride. Brilliant with novices, and much in demand as a schooling jockey. Francome (also ex-show jumper) was the same.

winner needs raising about 8 stone

made Fehily look like a claimer in the opener, he was positive at the last  ( crucial with such a pitiful run in ) whereas Fehily didn't fancy having a cut to secure the race.
