Can anyone advise on a good pair of binoculars that you could fit into a biggish coat side pocket? Happy to spend up to a couple of hundred but don't want the really big ones you have to hang around your neck but also found most of the smaller ones don't have requisite magnification. Any advice on good make/model appreciated and also what the minimum magnification level I should be looking for is.
i'd consider a pair of steiner wildlife, skyhawk, safari etc, you can find them on amazon but i'd always try them first as weight, eye piece comfort etc varies from person to person
i have a pair of canon with the stability control which i think were about 400 when i bought them, i found the stability button made a huge difference when viewing anything at extreme distance but not sure whether you'll get something like that at under 200 quid

I wouldn't get any more than x 40 as you wouldnt be able to hold them still enough and would require a tripod . Try scopesandskies website look down the left. They have a bargin box ,I've bought a couple of sets which have been really good.

Maximum 10 Magnification - otherwise the field are too close/large in final furlong and a half - and, also, the focus could be unstable at longer distance.
