It's the longest and most valuable cross country chase in Europe later this afternoon, the Prix Anjou Loire Challenge, run at Lion D'Angers and due off at 5:30 BST. The race distance is 7300 metres (just over 4.5 miles) and the course features a sort of equine staircase (think Hickstead Derby bank times three) which is run both up and down during the race.
Any Currency is the only UK challenger this year, but faces a stiff task against the course specialist Posilox, four times a winner over the track, including this race last year and the trial staged last month. But with only ten runners and four figure prizes down to 7th, well worth a try - it's 50,400 euros to the winner. Aidan Coleman rides and if he's new to this event, he'll be well advised to follow the locals round as there are more twists and turns than Monco Grand Prix.
