Additionally, it's rarely soft on Derby Day so I can't really see the benefit of easy ground tomorrow. Except of course that Elm Park would shorten dramatically and he'll become a very cheap lay.

I think JFK will beat gosdens easy tmrw, think gosdens still has to improve 10lbs+ on its Sandown run It won't be the first time they've sent one of there said 'superstars' out & be well beat first time out Was a v poor run but JFK looked as fat as a pig.All winter they've talked him as the one and he did little wrong as a 2yr old They'll know where he stands and his price since been beat may look big this time tmrw Elm Park may well need this tmrw but agree with earlier posts about going
Gd luck whichever way you play, looks a strong Dante

After very little consideration, Jack Hobbs is not a Derby winners name so must be long odds to do the deed, the more attractively named JFK is a far more likely winner on name but has of course blotted his copybook, very much like his namesake. Elm Park old haunt of the Royals might have had possibilities if they had stuck Royal in front of Elm Park when naming him. By default we are therefore left with Golden Horn to triumph tomorrow unless JFK brings his running shoes, don't believe any of them will be good enough to actually collect at Epsom in June though.

We will see. If Jack Hobbs is that good, why is Gosden running Golden Horn? If Elm Park is a plodder why was the trainer so keen to run in the Guineas?

Wouldn't think Gosden has much choice other than to run the both of them, he needs to see how Jack Hobbs performs at this much higher level and Golden Horn runs as a success in the Dante or a good run will enhance his reputation and eventual stud value which is what his owners will no doubt have insisted upon given their lack of decent animals recently.

Wasn't implying for financial reasons JM, you know as well as I do, it is the prestige of having something to boast about and the Opp's have had nothing for a very long time, I'm sure someone will correct me but the last decent horse I can recollect of their's was Most Welcome

ok guys i read with interest all your comments ... yet theres in my mind a huge doubt about the favs ... especially as a guy whos opinion i seriously respect ,,, and whos last 6 runners ive been advised to back ,five won ,one was third .. hes backing golden horn and ive follwed him in . hes been working well at home and improveing week on week ... does gosden know which is the best ,,, well he will today ,i can see him being interviewed pre race and saying today will tell .Look its a very competative race but i feel this has at least as good a chance as the two favs ,

Lingfield is better regarding handling epsom i think but golden horn was very impressive
won hands and heels , quickened without whip and won easier than looked , also balding didnt look that happy to me so i think elm was primed more than he says
will horn get the extra two though ?
