Who on earth could Labour elect as Leader / They havent anyone who could inspire confidence  as far as I can see?
Andy Burnham - too similar in outlook to Milliband -but FAV at 5/2
Yvette Cooper - poor thing ,married to hapless Ed Balls - but she lacks charisma -odds 9/2
Chuka Umunna- 11/4 - poor odds surely . He is in the same mould as Peter Mandleson
Dan Jarvis - a Labour version of Paddy Pantsdown - who has heard of Dan apart from the Party faithful ? Odds of 5/1 - must be poor value
Liz Kendall - a bit too far on the Right to appeal to the Unions - probably has no powerbase
Tristram Hunt - his name alone is a massive handicap . Comes across as inefectual and had a too sheltered life -Milliband style - Odds 12/1
SO what an unappealing bunch ?
So who on earth can Labour elect out of that lot ?

Former working class lad made good -Alan Johnson -would possibly walk it if he stood . But is now getting too old and lacks drive . But what a thoroughly nice guy who has missed his chance

WHAT DO OTHERS ON HERE THINK
AND WHERE IS THE VALUE ?
ODDSWISE THAT IS ?

What is clear from the last choice is that they failed miserably to understand how important the leader is and what is electable in the eyes of the public. Ironically Milliband may well have been a very good PM when you use betting thinking to analyse him. He has risen to become leader of the labour party despite his obvious physical shortcomings. We are all guilty of voting for the superficial qualities such as physical appearance and how a person talks etc. The really interesting conundrum is how would we all react to Boris Johnson as Con leader ?. He has a similar problem to Milliband on face value but at the moment we seem to be more forgiving. Faced with the reality of him getting in no 10 would we all back off ?.

Orville now that Keith's gone.

has all the attributes ...

- talks like Milliband (sorry that's Daffy Duck)

- is a puppet (Unions will love him)

- has big appealing eyes (like Tony Blair), so you cannot possibly consider him telling lies (like Tony Blair)

- both left wing and right wing at the same time (very new and old labour)

- no idea about economics or commerce

- fiercest opponent is a monkey (Cuddles ... but could be any politician)

- was a big name in the BBC.

so Orville it is, by a landslide

Anyone but communist Burnham.

He encouraged privatisation in the NHS, then apologised and said he was wrong.
Now he wants to be PM!

From the New Statesman:-

Yvette Cooper's aides have registered a domain name for her campaign, in the first clear sign from any of the runners and riders that they will seek to replace Ed Miliband as Labour leader.  Yvetteforleader.com has been registered in the name of Cooper's aide, Roger Baker. Cooper, who, I'm told, has already got a "substantial" sum of money raised and has been working the fundraising circuit hard, will start as a strong contender.

In an early coup for the Shadow Home Secretary's campaign, Cooper appears to have secured the services of Caroline Badley, the legendary mastermind of Gisela Stuart's against-the-odds triumphs in Birmingham Edgbaston. Badley, who many believe should have been put in charge of the party's field operations instead of Patrick Heneghan, is listed as one of the contacts for the domain name.

and from Wikipedia:-

She was educated at Eggar's School, a comprehensive school in Holybourne, and Alton College. She went on to study at Balliol College, Oxford, where she was awarded first class honours in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.[3] It was there that she became friends with her future colleague, James Purnell. She gained a Kennedy Scholarship in 1991 to study at Harvard University, and she eventually finished her studies with an MSc in Economics at the London School of Economics.

Pretty impressive ....

Its not a new leader they need, they have to understand, that the Robin Hood, policy of taking from the so called 'rich', and please define what is 'rich', and giving to the so called 'poor', who have iphones, ipads, sky tv, xboxes, and have never done and have no intentions of doing a days work, simply dont cut it with a huge number of people.

It's more about socialism being the only real way forward since it is generally accepted that capitalism leads to too much debt.

labour = losers ... always been the case - in politics or life

cons = success ... always has been the case

It's just a fact of life.

I for one, would rather pay no tax, but if I have to, I don't want it to go to the workshy. (or politicians, come to that)

The vast amounts of money likely to be invested in this supremely fascinating betting heat can only harm affect racing in an adverse manner

I would have thought you lot would be more bothered about the European Referendum than the next leader of the Labour party.
You might end up with a new leader yourselves after that battle in your party.

They are finished, they will probably put more nails in their coffins by electing someone form an ethnic minority, they are desperate - they have to have a true Englander leading and someone who is not a millionaire, someone who is not wealthy!

Thanks for the replies -some interesting and some witty !
Saw LIZ KENDALL being interviewed today . A breath of fresh air ,with a different take on things . Could be value at 12-1
But will Labour ever elect a female Leader ?
They might if they get desperate ?
PS (forgot to put H Harman on the original list - priced about 3-1 ? )

The Labour Party as we know it have gone..

If they could not defeat the Conservatives with the worst leader ever then that was their last chance..

(A bit like Liverpool not winning the Premier League with Man Utds worst team ever)..

The BBC did all they could to push them into power and when that failed made sure every News was headed by the SNP who yet again failed to get over 35% of voters and were still hailed as the new power..

Left wing scum...

I know it's a boring cliché, but if they position themselves as in 1997 ( New Labour), they will get re-elected !

Left wing/ Marxist policy's are dead in 21st century England !

If I were one of the Party's big wigs, I'd shear all connections with the Trade Union Movement, and go for state funding with all the other relevant party's !
