Highland Reel could well be the real deal here, impeccably bred from a leading trainer and Top Jockey, but a question mark as to how he'll handle a softer surface and rather short in a very competative race.
A horse that is possibly even better bred is Tale Of Life by Leading Sire Deep Impact out of a Storm Cat mare. Horse is very closely related to multiple G1 winners including Gentildonna,Kizuna, Lachesis and Beauty Parlour who won this race in 2012.
Although trainer Pascal Bary has not won this race he has twice won the French 1000 guineas with Blue mamba in 2000 and Divine Proportions in 2005.
Jockey Stephane Pasquier has ridden the winner of this race twice in the last 3 years on Lucayan in 2012 and Karokontie last year.
Horse itself waltzed up on heavy going on its debut last November by 7 lengths with the Fabre hot pot back in 3rd won nto. Just beaten 1 length on 1st run this year by New Bay on Good ground here over C/D in the Prix de machado and reapposes on 9lbs better terms with that horse today, should be better on this softer ground and i wonder what price he'd be today if he'd won that race! 14/1 looks great value for an EW bet against the Fav imo.
