BRAZILIAN jockey Fausto Durso, a former champion in Macau, has been involved in a fatal stabbing, according to reports.
Durso, 39, suffered stab wounds in an altercation outside his parent’s home in Brazil and died before medical help arrived. A former champion apprentice in Brazil, Durso helped launch the career of fellow Brazilian rider Silvestre de Sousa, who has become one of the leading jockeys in Britain. Durso moved to Macau in 2004 and claimed the jockeys’ title twice in 2007 and 2008. His biggest victories include the 2010 Hong Kong-Macau Trophy, a local Group 3 at Sha Tin, on Viva Pronto for trainer Gary Moore at odds of 100-1.
