This horse was campaigned at a decent level as a 2yo, but after very promising maiden runs was just a little high in the handicap.   I think, today has been the plan since last Autumn.  Since then he has been running in races beyond his trip and has slowly been coming down the weights.   Dascombe loves a Chester winner and I hope he is primed for today.   The draw could have been slightly better but over the last couple of days plenty winners coming from this position.  12/1 is generally available and think this is a fair ew bet at that price.

Michael Owen on a stable visit mentioned Roudee was laid out for Lily Agnes last year when 2nd.
"Was drawn in the Car Park "  he said - draw 9  -- but the winner was drawn 10
Tom had 36 entries here at 4 day stage
The stable can always be relied on to get a winner at the meeting.
This year hasn't been as good as previous years though, only two horses had won prior to meeting with Al Maheer carrying the flag with 4 wins.
Yesterday's  winner Cymro shows that the stable is in form.
Cymro was 2nd here at this meeting last year.
Notice that Fallon is riding for the second string (?). He may have played a part yesterday by assisting the pace and forcing the fav wide and will be closely watching the races today
Falcon Annie may show the 2yo strengh today.

Interesting stuff Pinza, hope they have saved their best till later in the week.   Personally, I thought the 5 furlong race tomorrow would have been better for Roudee, but that is a class 2 compared to an easier class 3 today.
Whatever happens today, Neutron Bomb is a bet in the maiden tomorrow.

Looking at Dascombe d/b I'm not certain about the grade of race for Falcon Annie. He doesn't normally run a FTO filly in todays grade and she is up against the colts.
HORSE      POSITION    PRICE
Gin Twist    6th    14.00 is all I can find and that was at Chester

However I go by the rule if stable 2yo FTO is less than 6/1 then take notice.

Interesting that The Character had first run here (100-1) in C grade and this one runs 5.25 (CD winner)

The further distance runs may have dented the speed over 5f for Roudee?
I'll be there tomorrow to watch your selection

Have a great day Pinza, still can get Neutron Bomb at 9/2 in a place, (was generally 9/2 last)

Looks like Roudee runs again today, albeit over 5f and poorly draw.

GL with that Swardean .
From my vast experience backing maidens on paper is a disaster and you have to wait to see them.
No matter what form they have as I have been with them and can assure you you must wait.

Its hard enough getting an experienced horse to the track without issues and for sure most issues arise  with the inexperienced ones thus the market drifts.

Only heard Chester racecourse called the Roudee over the past couple of years. Where does it come from, please?

When: 08 May 15 16:06
Its "Roodee". Apparently from Rood Eye = Island of the Cross, the site of the racecourse.   Straight from wiki so could easily be boll ox.

that spot on, I knew the roodeye was derived from Rood eye and it meant island of the cross. I know nothing else and will check the wiki ref later.
